One book at a time with maybe a magazine on the side.

Both. I tend to leap from one book to another when the books at hand are boring but when I really like a book, I won't dare touch any other until I'm done with it. :D

I have to only read one at a time, which is hard because there are so many I want to read.

I've always got a fresh book locked and loaded on my Kindle for when I'm out and about and another book on my desk for proper reading time.

I find myself dipping into both books at any given point during the day.

I don't like reading more than one book at a time, but I sometimes can't help but to read another one at the same time. It gets very confusing and I mix up the plots and characters a lot.

I am usually slow thinking ADD - one vegetable at a time, one outboard motor rebuild at a time, one family medical condition, one dog, one sports team, one credit card payment, one holiday season, one vitamin pill, one stop sign, one cell call, and one lover at a time. But when it comes to night reads I often have two or more brewing. Sometimes a quick change of reading channels works and the bonus is when there is a bookmark.

If I can use a food analogy...for me reading is about consuming. So rather than devour one book in a sitting it's more enjoyable to have a pile of books and savor bites from all of them gradually.

Usually I only read one at a time, but sometimes I'll do 2. Especially if I'm in the middle of a large book and I'm going somewhere where I have to travel light, I'll take a smaller book for the trip, then come back to the other.

I personally can't read more than one book at once. The great thing I find about reading is being able to totally engross yourself in the story and characters. I'm unable to do that while reading more than one book, or at least I don't think it would be the same. That's just my philosophy on reading!

I'm currently reading Winter of the World but I was on the move quite a bit today & to carry that book would be like hauling a small elephant around so I picked up Cry, The Beloved Country to accompany me - I've been meaning to read it for a long time & today presented the perfect opportunity. Beautiful book & a super read I got about a third into it today.
Now the big decision do I keep with it or do I revert to Winter of the World? decision! decisions! decisions! :?

I can only read one book at a time! I like to get stuck into it and not be jumping from story to story, I find it too distracting.

I usually read one book at a time because I tend to get distracted somewhat easily. On occasion, I do tend to read more than one book at a time. I only do that if I am not super busy and have plenty of time to read. Because I am busy or super busy at times, I have to read one book at a time. Sometimes it takes me awhile to read one book or multiple books because I am not a super fast reader from time to time.

I usually do not read more than one book at a time, but there are some exeptions: If I need to return a book to the library or if a book is boring I start another in parallel in order to be able to move on with both. It also happens that while I am reading fiction I might read a non-fiction book in parallel if I need to (for work purposes or other reasons).

I definitely read more than one book at a time. usually it's somewhere around three or four. My usual breakdown is I'll be reading 1-2 novels, 1 short story collection, and sometimes a volume of manga or graphic novel. That way I have something for whatever mood I'm in.
