You're not the only one.
I can't read ebooks or any type of reading material while in a moving car. It makes me sick. It also hurts my eyes and head. Whenever I read in a moving vehicle, I have to stop reading and open a window to get fresh air.

I can actually read in a moving vehicle as long as I'm standing. I can't read anything when I'm sitting down in a moving vehicle.

I have never been able to read in the car. It's always made me nauseous. It's a little better now, in that I find I can sometimes look at my phone for a minute or two, but that's about it. I would never try to read a book. Others suggested audiobooks, and I think that's a great solution, as long as you are in the company of people who would enjoy it too, or are alone. For myself, this wouldn't work well, because I'm usually in the car with my children, and the books I read aren't for their young ears.

Try driving with the window open. I get really car-sick whenever I have the A/C running and I'm trying to read or do homework or something but keeping the windows open even a little eliminates that problem for me.

Apologize for the promo, but I have been kind of inspired after submitting this post last winter. I had no idea so many people struggled with this like I do (my wife drives like a NYC cabbie). So I decided to do something about it and have built an e-reader app that allows you to read a book (EPUB for now) while in car or any other vehicle. Worked with a bunch of scientists and have tested on dozens of people for hundreds of hours. 90% of the people were able to read with no symptoms. I still have a bunch to do before it is done but was wondering if anyone on this thread would be open to trying it and testing whether it works for them? It only works on an iPad for now. Let me know privately if you prefer.

I most certainly do get car sick when reading in a car. Unless I'm driving. ;-)

I never get motion sickness when reading my paperback in a vehicle, whether it be train, car, or plane. Since you read eBooks, that may be a problem, maybe the light emitting from the device could cause nausea. Reading paperbacks might help a little.
As for a preventative, trying an audiobook might help, as long as it doesn't distract you if you're driving.

I always get sick and have even tried motion sickness medication but it does not help. I am envious of anyone that can read in a car!

Yes I have this problem too. However it is usually due to seeing things go by with my peripheral vision. If I wear glasses that cover my ability to see through my peripheral vision it isn't so bad. I can go for longer periods of time before feeling sick.

I guess I'm one of the lucky people that don't get motion sickness. Many people ask how do I not get it but I don't know most of the time I'm to absorbed into the book to notice anything else.

I'm so glad that I don't ... my sister always had this problem and I know it is difficult for her; thankfully I seem to be able to read just about anywhere including in the car (though not while driving of course :D )
