when i was in elementary school in Selma Al, i actually got to enjoy a breakfeast with Katherine Tucker Windham the author of the book "13 Alabama Ghosts and Jeffery" and others. As a child i loved ghost stories so every time i went to the library i picked a book of hers. It was a real honor for me to get to sit next to her at this breakfeast and talk to her about Jeffrey LOL. i asked her about him the entire time and she just laughed and did tell me all about him. it was really nice. I will never forget that experiece.

I met Isaac Asimov, and he eye-raped me and made a salacious comment.

Barbara Seaman, a "right broad."

I met David Ignatow, the poet, and he was a lovely man.

I met Christopher Lehmann-Haupt, and he was also a lovely chap.

PS I didn't mind the eye-rape, as it WAS after all Asimov. But Jong really bugged me. I told a literary friend about it and he said, "Ugh. Never mind anything she does, she's the Miss Piggy of American Literature." I liked that!
That's too funny. Also, kudos on your profile picture. It's not every day you see Inger Nilsson in online forums.

In July this year I went to the Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate (a spa town in the UK) there were quite a few writers doing talks/workshops/signings the nicest person to listen to and meet was Charlaine Harris.

I did. I don't remember his name. He was an ass. He is a local in my town and I can't stand him. He's pompous, rude, ignorant, full of himself and a general snob. I mentioned that I like to write too and asked if he had any advice and he just griped that everyone thinks they're a writer these days and walked away. In his position I would have said "Just write" or something along the lines. But nope, he had to be an a$$. He's only written a book about the town we live in. By you know, that's enough to make him a real writer versus me who just enjoys passionately writing because I can.
When you're wrong, your really wrong. When you're right, you're a pain in my a$$.

I met several of my favorite authors at a convention in Kansas City this year with my sister. It was amazing to meet all of them. I think of few of them thought we were crazy because we were so excited to meet them. We say it was better than any concert we've ever been to. :)

I have not met anyone. Although Rick RIordan has visited a place that I live, I missed it. But, I am always looking out.

Most of the authors I would like to meet are already dead. I would love to meet an author in person, though. I think it would be fun to talk to him/her about their work and their muse.

Are you referring to John Green who wrote The Fault in Our Stars? I just read this book last week and was surprised to find that he lives very near where I used to live a few years ago. --Such a small world.

I did meet an author once, Frank Peretti. I didn't say more than "hello" really, but was pretty thrilled to meet such an incredible author. He was friendly too. A woman sitting near us introduced herself to him and told him that her son or grandson (I can't remember which) was a huge fan of his. She asked if he would talk to her son/grandson if she called him right then and he agreed. The woman was just giddy that she was coordinating this "phone introduction". It was very sweet.

Christopher Buckley is the friend of a friend, we were at a gathering one night and spoke briefly. We did not discuss politics nor his father, but I complimented him on a book well done.
