when people try to talk to me... i just get so annoyed and think of that song, made by youtube star Julian Smith, "Don't You Ever Interrupt Me While I'm Reading a Book". That song the story of my life...

I agree with all the people that say others wanting to talk to me, conversations and questions when I'm reading, writing a paper, or very clearly busy on the computer working. I like to be in the same room with my children and husband. I want to take care of house items and block TV, their movement, and their talking, even when they talk to me at times, but to get mad at me when I'm in the same room and quiet reading when they want to talk to me, after I have been told to "be quiet I'm watching TV".

People come up to me and ask, "What are you reading?" I appreciate the interest, really, and of course I recommend the book...but I don't want to actually have a conversation about it. I mean, come on. I'm reading.

Definitely the phone ringing!! and it's usually when I'm at an exciting part of the story!! I know I have the option of not answering the phone, but it seems more difficult when it's my mobile, however I can easily ignore my land-line! haha

Exactly! My family knows I like to read right at the beginning of the day and right before I go to bed, and then still interrupt me with something stupid. I don't mind being interrupted with a quick remark about something, but I hate having conversation. It really draws me out of the book and I end up forgetting what I just read.

I have to go with someone asking what I'm reading and then they continue to talk after I've told them. It disrupts the rhythm. This usually happens on a plane.

So many times I have fallen asleep whilst reading, which has been a wonderful sleep by the way, but I usually have to go over what I was reading again, because I have forgotten!!

When your knee deep in a great book and friends or family don't want to stop calling.. or every single person that could want you to go somewhere wants you to go... yeah that's annoying =)

There are two things for me. One is falling asleep and the other is having someone come up and talk to me while I'm clearly involved with my book.

I agree, my need to sleep is so bothersome. Work comes in second.
