Hitch22

It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I just finished reading Christopher Hitchen's memoirs (Hitch22) and would absolutely recommend it to anyone to try out. It's worth it just to be inspired by the excellent writing style and the sheer scope of vocabulary. If you've no interest in politics then maybe give it a miss, but if you get a chance to read even the foreword (which was written while he knew he was dying) then you may find it, as I did, extremely moving.

Thanks for the recommendation. I love Hitchens's writing style and wondered about Hitch22. That will be my next read.

Hitch22 is certainly worth a read. I am a fan of the late Hitchens for a variety of reasons, but for a certain kind of writing and intellect that maintains that logic is the highest order of thought, the Hitch cannot be beaten. Racing through his Letters to a Young Contrarian at the moment and looking forward to reading his Mortality. Also get his Arguably, a collection of his various essays and journalism. It's a great read over time and makes a fantastic doorstop when you've finished it.
