The Tattered Cover is an independent book store in Denver. I used to go to signings, and had a couple of memorable experiences. I met Clive Barker, and got a chance to chat for a while. He looked like a young Paul McCartney at the time. Slammed "Tab" (the diet cola-like substance) and talked a million miles a minute.

I also went to an Ann Rice signing, and ended up on an elevator with her. She was very charming with my attempts at conversation.

Yes, I once stood in line for two hours to meet Rick Riordan author of all the Percy Jackson books. He was great and worth the wait. He took the time to answer all my questions and sign his books for me.

Yes.
My former university profs were all published authors (obviously), and I met with them several times per week for years.
I also met Irene Pepperberg around 1999 :)

I have not met an author face-to-face, but did have one interview me via Facebook concerning a subject she is currently writing about. She was super nice and sends messages all of the time.

When I was in college I had two separate literature courses taught by much-published authors. One course, on American fiction, was taught poet William Heyen. The other course, on science fiction, was taught by sci-fi author Nancy Kress.

I had a professor in college who was an author of a few books, other than that no. But I would love to one day meet Sherrilyn Kenyon and Christine Feehan.

:D A few weeks ago Jim Gorant, the author of 'The Lost Dogs" and "Wallace" was at a local bookstore. He was as sweet as I imagined and signed my book. Joked with him and said " Are you too secretly pleased when Vick gets hurt again?". A really nice guy!

I met US author Candace Bushnell at a glitzy function promoting her books and television series "Sex And The City".

Most of the female guests thought they were Sarah Jessica Parker, drinking cosmopolitans and tottering around on ridiculously high heels. When Candace spoke to the assembled gathering, they barely stopped texting to their friends.
Of course, later they preened before the cameras almost blocking out Candace. When I got to speak with her, I found
her to be polite, rather quiet but attentive and she was relieved that I didn't bombard her with story ideas. It was an interesting insight into the author promotions circus, er, circuit.

I met Maggie Stiefvater several years ago in Bulgaria. She was on a book tour and visited our capital city and the second biggest city in Bulgaria while promoting her Books of Faerie novels and The Shiver Trilogy. During her visit, she was hilarious from the very first minute till the last moment. It was a very special evening for me, because my then-boyfriend was also a fan of The Shiver Trilogy and we brought our copies for autographs, and it was kinda strange, because most guests were 14 year old girls :D Maggie even played live a piano melody, which she had written for her husband, which made the meeting even more awesome. I remember I got so baffled that I forgot the word "performance" in English, while I was talking to her :D :D

I've never met one and I don't really want to... It's better to consider the talent of the writer. That's a department entirely separate from the one that holds the office of the personality...
