Re: Book first or movie first?

For me, it's impossible to read the book after the movie. I mean, if the writing is really great and I can go with knowing the ending I can do it, but I will always prefer to read the book first.
Books always have so much more detail and are a bit different than the film more often than not. Plus, it's always fun to watch the movie after finishing the book and see if the scenes and characters you imagined in your head match what's actually become of them.

Book first. Books give a vivid detail view of the story which is lost in a movie. a movie has time limitation which is not there in a book. the freedom of imagination and creativity is lost in the movie. Anytime Book first then movie

Book first most definitely :D Sometimes if I love the book so much I refuse to watch the movie because I just know they will not get it right!

Book first if at all possible! The movie usually can't come close to the enjoyment the book brings.

I prefer seeing the movie first, as they tend to miss out a lot from the books. If I read the book first, ill most likely pick the film to bits with my knowledge.!

Definitely the book first.

The only case where the reverse happened was when I caught "In Cold Blood" running on telly and then just HAD to read Capote's book!

Definitely books first. My imagination is way better then Hollywood's. Movies always leave out to many details that are in the books.

I always love reading books first. Movies just can't develop characters and sub-plots as well as books can. I also love having my own versions of characters in my mind before see who was cast to play their role.

I much prefer reading the stories before seeing the moves because book offer so much more detail and my imagination just takes off.

I would read the book first. The times when I've seen the movie first just makes me not want to read the book. I'm not really sure why. I love the details that the book provides that movies can't, and I just love the feeling of reading a book.

If there's a film coming out that I want to see, that's based on a book, I will always try and read the book first! No doubt about it! So that you get the author's original portrayal of the story before you get the interpretation of someone else!

I try to read the book first as I usually like them much better than the movie. If I see the movie first, I generally won't read the book.

I always prefer the book first so much so it was a rule in my house when the kids were growing up. If they wanted to see the movie they had to read the book first. Of course the kids didn't like that but after the movie we would talk about the difference between both. 99% of the time the book is always better
