I find her twist on vampires a good theory. They sparkle and shine in delight. It's a great advantage to a predator. And a great distraction for one who wants to lure away a predator from somone they care about. Just like in the animal kingdom.
That and mating. Xp

I loved the twilight books when I was in high school. Her books are much better than the movies made about them. Her books capture your mind and don't let it go until you are finished reading. The Twilight books are the type of books that leave you sad when they are over, but I do remember the last book being very well written in that it was the perfect end book to a series. It answered all of your questions and gave you a happy illusion about their future lives. While I liked the Twilight series, I was not very fond of the Host. I thought that since the Twilight series was so good, the Host must be great as well. It was not a "can't put it down" book, where as I had to push myself to keep reading.

After taking a short story class in highschool, I had to go back and read her books and having been taught to pick things apart, I started noticing all of the little mistakes. It's a good read, but it is geared towards the younger crowd. It was a little repetitive I thought, how she was constantly describing Edwards chiseled looks and how Bella couldn't help but swoon whenever she was near him.

The problem that I had with the books was that they didn't really seem to have a deeper theme; and I found them to be a bit simplistic. However, the pacing was interesting--when I did end up rifling through my sister's copies, I wanted to find out what happened, but was not possessed by a desire to read them again, and I didn't really feel like I gained or learned anything.

I think, from whatever I heard, that the thing people liked about the books was that they could relate to the characters, or specifically, the protagonist. It's interesting to me to see what different people look for in books, and what goes into determining what they like, because learning their perspective might make me see something I didn't before. The same works the other way around too! :)

I think she's just fine. I enjoyed reading the Twilight series from beginning to end - couldn't wait until the next ones came out!!

When I started reading the first book, i didn't think I would finish it. I just didn't like the hopeless, fall head over heels for a guy you just met. I didn't like that message that was being sent out to all the young adults. It is not okay to behave like that. My friends kept telling me to just bear with it, that it will get better. I think I read it mostly for the Jacob story line. It was an ok series, once she matured and grew up.

The first time I attempted to read Twilight, I stopped less than fifty pages in. I gave it a second try, and barely managed to finish. I only read the rest of the series, because it's hard for me to start a series and not finish it. It's a compulsion. I don't like to put authors down. Everyone has their own tastes. However, I don't think she writes well at all. The Twilight series reads as though it was written by an eighth grader for seventh graders.

I also read a few pages before putting her down forever. I don't have anything positive to say about her writing, but I'm also in my mid-twenties and male... so there's that.

I haven't read anything by her. I did read her story about getting published. She got lucky and found an agent who was new.

On Twilight: I want to thank Stephenie for drawing in so many young girls to reading and really spawning the world of YA FANGIRLS. (not that I am one, hehe  ) I'll be the first to admit, though, her writing skills are in no way amazing. She had a good story, although her characters were weak (ahem... BELLA) and her vocabulary and abilites limited. I will also admit, it might have not been the best fit for her. I have found that she seemed a lot more at home writing The Host

On The Host : Loved it... like a lot! She seemed to have really found her niche in that book, but the movie was a bit of a flop. Not terrible, but cringe-worthy at some moments and and perfect at others :). WHY DID SHE NEVER MAKE A SEQUEL? I hope she will, however, continue to write science-fiction/romance and be the best she can be!

On Stephenie: I've seen a couple of interviews, and she isn't the most friendly-seeming person alive, but I don't know her so I can't judge her.

To conclude: Well she ain't no JKR... but whatevs. I like Twilight, I LOVE The Host, and I am not ashamed to respect Stephenie Meyer.

First twilight book, loved it! Second one, hmmm. Third one, okay? Fourth one, terrible. Took forever to finish it! And why wasnt she a witch? Would have made much more sense! As for the Host, couldn't get past the first few pages. Saw the movie though and meh.

Stephenie Meyer is a talented writer. I own the complete Twilight Series and have read her spin off books. I would say that if she sat back and reread and choreographed her books, she would have a wider fan base. For example E. L. James created a series that is similar to Twilight, minus the supernatural part, and made it fit the young adult group as well as the older group. This created a wide fan base. For a supernatural example Chloe Neil created Chicago Land Vampires and that series was the closest thing to perfection that I have read.
I feel that if Stephenie would get a better grasp on her readers she would be a better author. Yes she hit a wide fan base with her series, but I feel that it could have been wider. She went with t he cheap shoots of a two sexy co stars and a damsel in distress from herself. It is just a little played out.

I think her ideas and plot lines are pretty good but I just don't really enjoy her style of writing.

I like her books. They can be more on the simple side, but they sure did the job in capturing an audience.
