I think my most commonly used bookmark is cleanex (unused...usually ;)) ... on occasion I'll use a receipt or turn down the page, or sometimes if the page number is an easy one (88, 100), I'll just make a mental note.

I have seen all sorts as I sort books for our retirement village library, I like the lolly wrapper one!! playing cards, tissue, a leaf, once I found a lovely old photo and handed it into the village office where the original owner was found.

I have the Goodreads app on my phone. I look up the book I am currently reading and then keep tabs on my progress there. Much easier than having a bookmark. I have two young children that like to take bookmarks out of books so a paper marker does me no good!

My friend went to China last year and bought me this gold steel-like material bookmark with a picture of The Palace Museum and some Chinese characters on it. So cute and beautiful. Been using that ever since.

I'm gonna ask for special bookmarks whenever my friends or family went overseas next time.

I have several card-stock bookmarks, but I rarely use them. I usually make use of the receipt that comes with library books or small scraps of paper.

I will use whatever I have on hand, sometimes I will make one out of yarn and use that. And if I need to I will bend the corner of the page I'm on because I'm horrible at remembering where I'm at and i hardly ever pay attention to the page numbers, especially when I become engrossed in a book.

I have 60 bookmarks. I think I went a tad crazy when I first saw them.

I have a jar on my desk that contains thirty odd bookmarks. Some I've bought, some are commemorative, some were freebies and some I've made myself

I usually just use whatever is around me. I don't know I manage to loose bookmarks when I go straight from one book to another!
I don't really have problems with remember what paragraph I'm up to because I have a habit of stopping after full chapters. Unless the chapters are quite large but then its still not really a big deal

I use anything in the vicinity. To date I have used old receipts, train/bus tickets, empty sweet wrappers, post-its, ribbons, my uni ID, ancient gift cards, pieces of newspaper, paper clips, my iPod, headphones, my mobile phone (cellphone), lecture notes, pens, pencils, birthday/Christmas cards, and a piece of string.

I have a bunch of old bookmarks I've been using for a long time. How do you guys know what page you're on with a bookmark? I'm not sure if this will help many people, but if I am on the left page, I stick my bookmark in with the front side facing me, if I am on the right page, I use the backside of the bookmark.
