I absolutely agree with you. They were so loving for each other! It was a delight to read their daily interactions.

I agree. It was dealt with gently and genuinely. Such behaviour does not come show up without a reason. Once that is identified, the world will be a better place:)

I love the idea of writing about things you like. I agree with your idea about the way the author handles the bully in the story.
How MG dealt with the bully was the best part. There was 1 teacher who used this shoebox idea in our class asking us to freely share whatever we wished to. I was reminded of her after reading this book.

True. It carries lessons for parents too. Spending some quality time and bonding with kids is as essential as food clothing and shelter. Also parents behaviour should be appropriate as children take cues from elders and think it is ok to behave a certain way or speak certain words.

Based on the review, it seems like a heartwarming tale of family love and resilience, with some exciting adventures thrown in. The bond between Mary Grace and Donny, despite his special needs, is admirable. I also appreciate how the book tackles important topics like bullying and the impact of parents' behavior on children. This review highlights the heartwarming and adventurous journey of Mary Grace and Donny in the book "Donny and Mary Grace's California Adventure" by Catherine A. Pepe. The story portrays the strong bond and love within the Miller family, especially towards Donny, who has Down's Syndrome. The book explores themes of friendship, solving mysteries, handling bullying, and the impact of parental behavior on children. Overall, this book appears to be an engaging and insightful read for children aged eight and above. The reviewer rates it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. Absorbing narrative, lost myself in the story completely.
