Review of The deceitful wife
The Deceitful Wife by Gabriel Marc Angel is a story about a man, James, mesmerized by a woman who does not have the best intentions. Amy has ulterior motives and will go to any lengths to deceive a man. Like a praying mantis, she preys on the next unsuspecting victim with her beauty, charm, and schemes. What will happen to James? What is this hold she has over him? And will he be able to escape from her clutches, or will he succumb to her evil plans? Read the book to learn more.
It is a very brief read, with only 32 pages. The author's usage of language is quite simple to understand. It is a story that is not uncommon nowadays, so many readers will find it relatable. Another positive I found was the absence of significant errors. I encountered only one minor punctuation error, which exhibits the professional editing of the book.
When weighed against the positives, the negatives tip the scales. The story, while relatable, is also somewhat predictable. I felt the plot lacked depth, and the author could have added more suspense and drama to make it more captivating. In addition to that, the story's flow was disjointed at times as it transitioned between the five chapters. The inadequate introduction to a character's location was one particularly confusing aspect. For instance, the story had two characters residing in the same hotel, which was inconsistent with the plot. I had to reread the text several times before I realized it was a mistake.
I removed three stars and rated this book 2 out of 5 stars due to its predictability, lack of attraction, and incoherent narration style. More intense characters and a compelling storyline, in my opinion, would help the plot.
I recommend this book to readers who enjoy a quick, uncomplicated read. Readers looking for a saucy, sweet, and romantic angle may not get as much from this book.
