Book first. I usually feel disappointed in movie renditions of books because they're not accurate to what i've built up in my head. Books are just so personal in that way. And whenever i watch a movie that i learnt was based on a book i would read the book just to get my own perspective

Book first, always. The book is always better. There is more depth and more detail. Something is always lost in the film adaptation.

I like to read the story in book format prior to watching the movie. For some reason the movies typically always disappoint me, and if I go to see the movie or rent the movie on PPV and am disappointed I assume sometimes that the book will also be a disappointment. Now that I have switched it around, read the book first and then watch the movie I can get a better understanding of the subtle meanings a glance from a character/actor or actress can mean. The book has such detail and description that sometimes a movie cannot portray properly, especially if the movie is low budget. Not that low budget is a bad thing, some of my favorites are low budget. :D

I have to read the book first! If I'm even just thinking about maybe seeing a movie and it's based on a book I have to read the book just on the off chance I end up seeing the movie!

well I have t o say since I do not go to the movies much, I tend to go with the book first i also find if you read the book first and then watch the movie -- the movie tends to leave alot out and the most important thing at the movies you can not curl up with a warm blanket and a oversized chair with your pajamas on at the movies, the other thing is you can always pick the book back up and continue reading that does not happen at the movies

Book or movie, usually do not do both, but of course there are exceptions, for instance, Dan Brown's DaVinci Code

I have always read the book first then saw the movie, not by choice. Its just always happened that way. And everytime I fell in love with the book and hated the movie. Not sure why. I think its because I emerse myself so deep in the story and imagine every scene in my head the way I think it is, then the movie portrays it completely different. Also, I CAN NOT stand when a movie doesn't follow a books sequence or "omits" or adds certain things. Just DO NOT do that! We fell in love with the story because of the book. Change that and you change our feelings about the story. Not good when the book is already perfect! I always recommend reading before seeing.

Books are almost always first. I feel weird if I watch a movie knowing it's based off of a book I haven't read yet. However I don't feel as guilty if I didn't know it was based on a novel

I think book first in most cases. However sometimes I don't want to read the book but I enjoy the movie so it leads me to read the book (if that makes sense). This happened with hunger games for me. Though I don't want to spoil that awesome feeling of not knowing what will happen when you read a book.

This is usually really tough for me. Most of the time I read the book first so I can picture everything how I want it to be instead of having the movie put pictures in my head for me for when I read the book.

The bad thing about that though is that a lot of the time I dislike the movie because of how different it is from the book or because it left out parts of the book that I really liked or thought were important.

Always the book first then the movie but I always tend to be over critical when it comes to the movie.

Book first...always. I like to set the characters in my mind according to their descriptions in the book. Characters come alive in our own imaginations far better than anyone else can make them come alive in a movie. It is rare that I will even see a movie that is based off of a book, because it is just not the same.

I prefer a book any day, it becomes a movie in our mind anyway :)
