The story is not only about magical socks, but it takes children through the process of grief of losing someone close to them. It is a very cute story and a quick read that children will love and not realize that they are being taught something. Congrats on the BOTD!

The good angle and the bad devil looming over your shoulders wispering in your ears but instead it's your socks; one that is optimistic while the other is pessimistic. this is an amazing plot for a children's book. It teaches children how to deal with grief and slowly heal all the while looking at the brighter side of things. The sentences are the perfect length to hold a child's attention. Congratulations on the BOTD.

What a wonderful way to explain loss and grief to children. I'm glad it has a happy ending; it would be devastating otherwise. I think it's so cute that you were concerned about Lola; that shows the author did an amazing job of bringing out emotions in the reader.

At first I thought that I won't read the book, but my mind has changed after reading the sample and the review. It deals with how some people are more positive in life and other more negatively inclined. It also deals with loss. Thanks for a wonderful review.

I like the idea of socks as the central part of this book. Complex emotions of grief and loss which can be sometimes difficult to cope are so gently portrayed with illustrations. A book for children as well as adults. Great job on the review.

Hi, you did a concise review Sock Lobsters. I enjoyed reading it. This is the second book review that I have read about a book that deals with the subject of grief for children. This is a great idea. I don't think it is ever too early to introduce the subject of grief to a child. It sounds like the book accomplishes that in a skillful and gentle manner. "Sock Lobsters" by Michelle Bulriss is a children's book. The review of the book gives the reader an insight into the details of the book. It is filled with magic, love, and loss. There are picture illustrations also. Sebastian and Lola a couple are in love but she got lost. Will Sebastian find her back? Congratulations on BOTD.

This book seems like a great way to introduce kids to new feelings that they may encounter throughout life—in this example, the loss of a loved one. Children typically encounter challenging circumstances in life and are unsure of how to respond to them; for this reason, these books are quite helpful.

An incredible children's book, that expertly combines wisdom and humor to teach children vital lessons. It also discusses grief in most appropriate manner for children. Great read. Congrats on #BOTD

This sounds like a good read for kids as well as adults. Dealing with grief is something which isn't talked much in books. Good to know that this book has a happy ending for Sebastian and Lola.

I have a niece who I enjoy making sock muppets with. "Sock Lobsters" is a book that she will truly enjoy, so I cannot wait to get it for her. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

Thank you for the great review. I ended up downloading and reading the short story of Sebastian and Lola. I agree that the author did a good job illustrating the stages of grief between both personalities. It's so easy to get caught up in the questions of why something happens.
