The opening of Alice's pastry shop is drawing closer and closer, and it should be a happy time. However, after going to her boyfriend's apartment, she realized that he was cheating on her. Distraught, she doesn't know who to turn to or where to go. To avoid the drama of telling her family, she crashes with Neo, her brother's friend. The two of them begin to grow close and drunkenly hook up one night. What will be the consequences of Neo and Alice's night together? Will the pastry shop be successful? What happens when Alice finally tells her family everything that has happened to her? Grab a copy of And Then Came Esther by Abigail Wright and find out!

Wright did an excellent job of describing the dynamics between the characters. Alice was hesitant to tell her family about the issues with her boyfriend because the family was convinced he was the one for her. Alice was afraid of what they would think when she told them of his betrayal. Little details like this made the characters feel alive and realistic. I enjoyed seeing how these dynamics evolved throughout the book.

The book is quite short, around 150 pages long. The plot moved along quickly, and I was able to finish it in one sitting. It was engaging the whole way through. I did feel as though the ending felt a little rushed, however. It was satisfying, but I feel as though it could have been a little more drawn out and detailed.

Overall, I rate this book 3 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed the story, though it did feel a bit rushed. I also noticed a number of errors; I think an additional round of proofreading is warranted. If you are looking for a cute romance book that features deep family connections, this is the book for you. It is perfect for an afternoon and is one that you won't want to put down once it's started!

"And Then Came Esther" by Abigail Wright sounds like an engaging read! The character dynamics and the quick pace seem to make it an enjoyable one-sitting book. Your points about the rushed ending and need for additional proofreading are well-noted. It's always great to find a cute romance book that also explores family connections. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
