I would much rather read the book first because I get to decide how the people look and sound. I can imagine the clothes they wear, the sights and sounds and it is like having a custom made movie in my head. For that reason I sometime feel a sense of loss when I finish a particularly absorbing novel. Its like I'm not allowed to live in that reality anymore and I miss the characters and their world.

I can only assume and feel bad that neither of you saw "The Wizard of Oz" as children.

"The movie usually only makes sense if you already know the story"
So you fail to comprehend or in fact do not watch original screenplay movies?
