Resist much, obey little.

I also find the idea of mixing two languages fascinating, as a multilingual, there are certain things and emotions I prefer to express in certain languages. And at this point I would not like for any of the languages to be translated in to another(even if I don't know Spanish). Thank you for acknowledging author's past and the way it shapes the book.

I'm not a huge fan of poetry and can only speak a small amount of Spanish. For these reasons, I'll probably skip this book. I can see though that there would be a huge audience for this kind of book.

I had the chance to read this book and it was an amazing reading experience. To learn about Ileana's journey in Cuba and all she witnessed and gone through made me appreciate the life she lived. The poems are both written in English and Spanish so for readers who love poetry and speak both languages will enjoy this book of poetry.

The author has had her own share of life's troubles and goodness, as can be seen in this poetry collection. I like that she used simple and clear words to communicate to readers her feelings and experiences. I look forward to reading all the things she has written, like the places she has been to (as she is a traveler) and loved.

Thank you so much for your great review. I'm glad that you enjoyed the book. I don't feel like I understand poetry, so it is not enjoyable to read to me. I agree with you that I much prefer when people use simple and straightforward words, whether it is poetry or not. I believe more people can appreciate it then. I know very few words in Spanish, but it was fun trying to figure out a few words. I thought that was unique that she had both languages within one book.

Poetry is a form of art that has the power to deeply touch our souls and minds. It creates a connection between our innermost being and the world outside. I find simple, easy-to-understand poems to be the most enjoyable, just like the ones in this collection.

Contemplacion

A compiled book of poems both written in and English and Spanish is amazing. This challenges the reader to broaden their knowledge especially if they only speak one of the two languages. I do not speak Spanish but it allowed me to take the time and put in the effort to understand what was being said. The writer allowed us to see how the poems were written about favorite places and personal growth in general. I found this book to be pretty unique because of the English/Spanish duo. Congratulations!

I love how the reviewer mentions that the poetry is clear using easily comprehensible words. I agree with the writer of this poetry book that is in Spanish and English. She states, “Poetry is the language of our collective soul.” In her book, "Contemplacion. Thoughts and Poems." by Ileana Gonzalez Monserrat, there are her thoughts and her dreams in two languages for your enjoyment and contemplation. The book is full of strength and inspiration.

“Contemplacion - Thoughts and Prayers” by Illeana Gonzalez Monserrat is a book of poetry in English and Spanish that was written by Illeana, a woman that was born in Cuba who won a fellowship in Costa Rica based on her entry into the year 2000 contest and a copy of the book of poetry she had written in Spanish in 1995. At first, she received a letter telling her she did not win but then she received a call from David that told her she won the fellowship to work on a novel and the person that had selected the fraudulent winner had been fired and she was the winner. Her poems cover life in Cuba, the U.S., Turkey and other places she visited. These are well-written poems in Spanish and English in easy-to-understand language that enhanced the joy of readership. Since I do not speak or read Spanish, I only read the poems in English. A very enjoyable book for all, especially people that love poetry. I totally agree with a 5 out of 5-star rating. Very good review.

The review was impressive. The book promotes a positive outlook, as the author inspires readers on overcoming life's challenges. Despite my lack of knowledge in Spanish, I'm excited to delve into the English poems.
