"SandPeople" by Cheryl Kerr. An interesting book, talks about Lea McKinney who is then separated from her family, leaving with her aunt she hardly know. She is been separated from her brother and friend, about going to leave a lonely live. Lea childhood to adulthood was challenging and impactful. Congrats on your #BOTD.

The premise of this book is promising. And the main protagonist is easy to relate to. I like that it was clean and appropriate for even the younger audiences. There was also some mystery twists that undoubtedly appeals to me. If I have the chance I might give it a try. Thank you for an amazing review.

I can't imagine separating from a parent, a sibling, and my best friend for the whole summer and then being sent to live with an aunt that I don't really know. On top of that, mix in ghosts and buried treasure! This sounds like an emotional but interesting read for young teens and adults. Thank you for your thoughtful, thorough book review.

The review insightfully captures the essence of "SandPeople: An Across Time Mystery," highlighting its focus on personal growth over familial resolution. It's commendable how the reviewer appreciates the author's approach to historical fiction, making it both educational and engaging without being tedious. The mention of Lea's relatability and her journey through a transformative summer provides a compelling reason for the target audience to pick up this book. The balance between adventure and emotional development seems to be well-handled, making it a potentially enriching read for young readers navigating their own life changes.

Your description of Lea is certainly one many can relate to, including me as I love using my imagination while playing and I love playing alone. Instead of focusing on messy family problems, the author chose to develop and focus on how her situation affected and changed her.

This is a thorough review that shows all of the important elements of this book. The story of a girl who is maturing into a young woman as the summer progresses. I read the Amazon sample of this book and I must say that the author is a good writer. The prose is descriptive and captivating. :techie-studyinggray:

I can't imagine hearing that your traditional summer plans are changing because your parents are separating. So many emotions and feelings to process, but the author appears to do them justice even in the opening chapters. Lea cutting her hair is very symbolic and that is one thing I can relate to.

Will the story be scary with ghost sightings? I'm not sure I want to read these scenes, but it seems like a good story with well-developed characters. Nice review!

I’m looking forward to digging into this novel to find out how Lea’s transformation would be as she ventures to a new environment without her family. I like mystery novels and this one seems to be right up my alley.
