"The Sword Swallower and a Chico Kid" by Gary Robinson is a book in three parts. The first part is dedicated to Duke the sword swallower, the second part of the book deals with Gary Robinson, the Chico kid. The third part of the book brings these characters together.

This is a very interesting review! I sampled the prologue and the first chapter, and Duke's sword-swallowing performance was jaw-dropping. This makes me think that action is present in this novel, and contrary to the review's mention of this book not being for action thriller fans, as a thriller fan I still found it exciting :). I liked the sample, and I agree with the all stars rating :).

Your review is brief and nicely written. I'm open to reading a book that emphasizes character development instead of being filled with thrilling action. Appreciate your review! :techie-studyinggray:

Alcohol addiction is so easy to fall into, because drinking is socially acceptable. Sword swallowing and alcohol is surely a potentially
lethal combination! Thank you for the insightful review.

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting story following two distinct characters that have their own faults and insecurities and when one character is at the end of his downward spiral, he meets the other character. How will this encounter change his life? It is worth a second look to find out. Well done.

A nice character driven story can be found in the book "The Sword Swallower and a Chico Kid" by Gary Robinson. The story follows the life of the sword swallower the Chico kid.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I love this story about Gary and Duke and how their apparently twisted lives come to a point of connection--with similar challenges and limitations, will they work it out to transform their lives? If you are into stories about characters developing through a story, this is the book.

Danny and Frank are flawed and compelling, making their journeys all the more engrossing to follow. The focus on self-discovery and finding one's place in the world is a strong theme throughout. Congrats on #BOTD

Gary and Duke seem to have a lot in common. They both made wrong decisions in life involving the misuse of drugs and alcohol. I'll like to read more about them.

It sounds like the author has well-developed characters and an interesting plot, but I will have to pass since a large part of the book focuses on alcoholism. I have had negative experiences with alcoholics throughout my life.
