I learned I enjoy this process with the Twilight series. I have a daughter who wanted to read the books and watch the movies (8 billion times). I read the books first (to make sure they were appropriate because I wasn't familiar with them at all because I'm not 12yo, lol). But then I was super disappointed in the movies.
So for me, it's movie, book, and then maybe movie.

TimeKeeperApprentice wrote:I would read the book first. I would get the book because you get to see the entire original story. When you see the movie after you get{and read} the book the director sometimes rewrite the some of the story. Either way is okay but I would prefer to read the book so your imagination could take off =D
I couldn't agree more!

There are some books that I have sufficiently strong opinions about that I will not see film versions of them because I can tell just from the trailer that the film does not match my mental vision of the book, and I refuse to suffer through that. On the other hand, there are many books that do not attract my reading interest at all - but when the movie is made I am ready and willing to watch.

When the release date for Deathly Hallows was announced (I can't remember if it was part 1 or part 2),I decided it was time to get the whole story. So I bought the entire collection and read all seven books in five months.
Watching the movies were so much better after that!
Books first.
