JK Rowling most definitely. Aside from Harry Potter, The Casual Vacancy was a fantastic book.

Definately J.K Rowling, although I am not a fan of her last book.

I would definitely want to have written Harry Potter because it's more enduring somehow. Hunger Games was good but the other 2 books were not that great. Also, I'm kind of partial to magic, sorcery, witches and all that. However, you can't really compare the two because one is magic and the other is dystopian, two completely different genres.

Both are exquisite. While I greatly appreciate Rowling's ability to create and execute, Collins would be my pick. Fantastical yet realistic on many levels, very reminiscent of oldies like 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, that get the adult political mind going while still based on humanistic themes of basic love, sacrifice and survival.

I would say the Hunger Games for me, although it seems as if I am the only one so far! I did read them at very different times in my life, though, but I loved the Hunger Games as it was gritty, at times unpredictable and the main character was a girl who was strong and powerful in her own right. From the moment I started reading I couldn't put the books down and I think I read the whole series in about 3 or 4 days, which is unlike me! When I read the Harry Potter books, on the other hand, I enjoyed the first couple when I was quite young but as I grew older I became frustrated with JK Rowling's very limited vocabulary and mostly predictable plot lines. By the time it got to the 5th book, it was taking me months to get through each of the books as I was getting so bored and kept having to stop and read other books inbetween.

While I seriously enjoyed both of these series, while I like Harry Potter better as a story, I think Suzanne Collins is the more skilled writer. Plus, I'm super bitter with Rowling right now since she came out about that crap about Hermione ending up with Harry because I think it was childish, and I'm ready for her to stop dropping bombshells just to get attention. I grew up Harry Potter, and it was so important in my life, but I'm really starting to dislike it because of her. And as a writer, Suzanne Collins has a skill that is magnificent. She really knows how to write a darn story that takes your breath away. So, yeah...Team Gale!

J. K. Rowling definitely, i feel like Suzanne Collins is quite a bit overrated... I may get some people angry with this but c'mon people, the books were successful because they were just full of cheesiness and already proven ideas...

Definitely J.K Rowling. The Hunger Games are great, but the world that Rowling created at Hogwarts can just never be replaced. Maybe it is even possible that Rowling inspired Collins into writing fantasy novels. That would be very cool.

J K Rowling, there's much more depth to her books, although I love the Hunger Games books too.

I'd have to say harry potter. I love both series but I've been in love with the Harry Potter world since I was 5 or 6 years old. Someone read it to me in daycare.

J.K. Rowling all the way. Harry Potter is just too dear to my heart for me to say otherwise.

J.K. Rowling! I admire all the details of the magical world that she came up with. Suzanne Collins's works are good but didn't quite capture me as much.
