Is anyone else in love with Laurel K. Hamilton. I have read all of the books in her Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series. I didn't start reading them until about five years ago because I am only 23 and that is when I was introduced to them, but I finish each new book an anxiously await the new installment. The last book in the Anita Blake series, Skin Trade, was so captivating that I finished it in two days. I didn't do anything other than read for the entire two days until I was finished because I was so involved in the book.

I was hopeing to find someone else who love LKH as much as I do! I have read all the books in her Merry series and all but the las one in her Anita series, I've also read Strange Candy just last month and really enjoyed it. I'd like to read other things she's written but it's taken me a while just to get throught the Anita books, there's so many of them. I'm also looking forward to seeing how the Anita television series is going to turn out. Hopfully there's others in this forum who are also fans, it'd be great to talk with you.

I'm half way through the Harlequinn when I finally gave it up, she hasn't raised a zombie in like four books and has had sex more than I can even stand. Now I like sex, everyone needs a little but do her stories really even have a plot anymore?

I really enjoyed the earlier books in the Anita blake series, not so much the later ones...
Love the Merry gentry series though

I really enjoyed the first 8-9 books in the series but then it fell down for me. I've got all the books bec I'm hoping some day to catch up in the series but its not high on my agenda.

I have to agree about the Anita Blake series. I finally gave up when I realized that she wasn't going back to action and suspense. Its really a shame, because you really get to like the characters, but I really didn't want the mental images that were given out too frequently in her later books.

I couldn't stand Anita Blake until I found the graphic novels - and suddenly it became interesting. I'm not much for the plot of these stories but the artwork gave it a little more of a sting. So that would be a recommendation for both sceptics and fans of LKH.

I actually read 'Narcissist In Chains' first before I even realized that there was a full series. I am now in the middle of 'Harlequin' and have to say that the Anita Blake series has gotten tiresome. I loved the beginning books...raising the dead, being a necromancer and the struggle between being in love with a vampire as well as a werewolf. Now, its all porn and predictability. I wll finish the series though (because that's what I do) and I do plan to try the Merry Gentry series as well.

She is awesome and I love her books, I cannot get enough of them. I anxiously wait for the new ones to come out. I think she is done with the Meredith Gentry series, but I hope not. I hope she has a dozen more Anita Blake books coming at least.

Until I started putting more books into my "bookshelves" I wasn't aware the book by LKH "A Shiver of Light" had even came out! Who else was or wasn't aware of this? I just nominate it for the next book of the month vote so if interested go in and nominate it/vote for it too

I love LKH and her newest Anita book is Awesome!! It took me 2 days to read, but that was only because I have a 3 1/2 yr old. I loved the detail in Dead Ice, especially the reality of poly living. It's not all fun and sex peeps. And oh the return of characters I haven't seen in a while was wonderful. I swear I won't ruin it for you, but there is tons of zombie raising in this one.

I fell in love with her work about 9 years ago and I still go back once every couple years and re-read up until her newest releases. I will agree though, once I got to Harlequin the genre definitely shifted from what it originated and I was hoping since I haven't read any of her newer releases in the series it maybe got a little better? I'm going to try one more time to go through them and see if it gets better. I love all the characters, I just wish it wasn't so Mary Sue with them all being infatuated with her.

Thank goodness I read this! I also had no idea that Dead Ice was out already! I really hope that this book goes back to the original Anita from the first few books. I love how she has grown as a character, but once the main focus became sex and not raising the dead or solving crime, it felt like Anita faded a little. I mean, I love all her boys, but wow! So many of them.

I used to be a fan but after awhile the whole (so it seems to me) constant feeding of the ardeur thing just threw me off. Don't get me wrong, I'm far from being a prude but it seems like that's the focus of her books now. When I just started reading these I admired Anita as the vampire executioner and loved watching her acquire new abilities and such. She doesn't seem to do much of that anymore. I doubt I will read anymore of her books. Such a pity though.

I can definitely say I was a big fan of the earlier Anita Blake books. I know I have through at least Obsidian Butterfly and probably a few more. It really got old for me after the ardeur took all of the plot over. There were at least a couple of books (Micah) that had very little actual plot involvement. I ended up just skimming and skipping through most of the book because all of the sex scenes got so old for me. That being said I stopped spending my money on it but have still made it through most of the series courtesy of the local library. I think I've gotten up through at least Jason. I really like LKH, I just don't know if she can reel it back in to having more plot involvement again.

I also have the first few Merry Gentry books but have not read past those yet. I just don't see how those books can do much of anything but fall into the same trap as the Anita Blake books.
