I recently got a Galaxy S4. The screen is amazing. It's 1080p full HD, 1920x1080 resolution, ~441 pixels per inch (5 inch screen).
The text (well everything on it) is super smooth. No jagged edges, it doesn't even look digital, it looks analog.
The screen itself is smaller than my tablet by 2 inches, but my tablet was pretty terrible overall. The colors are more vibrant on the new phone and it's faster by many orders of magnitude (it has 2 quad-core processors!).
I've basically transferred all of my e-Reading to this phone and I might just give the tablet to my parents.
I can understand how people dislike reading on their phones now. The phone I used to use had a paltry screen size compared to this one (as well as a terrible resolution). But I posit that many of those people simply have not used the right phone.
