Don't get a Kobo

Post by katmac95 »

Unless you plan on cradling your e-reader in a thick layer of bubble wrap and clouds, the Kobo is not for you.

This thing can't handle the basic wear and tear of daily life: being stored in a purse, falling 3 feet from a table or chair onto s carpet, anything. That thing cracked easier than a hot glass being jammed into a freezer. It just isn't durable... At all!

I've had a rough time with this e-reader, and it just really isn't worth the money! Save it and buy some pretty earrings.

Although I have not tried the newer versions of Kobo, I have an older one (non-touchscreen) which seems invincible. Definitely worth getting!

I've had my kobo for 4 years and it works just fine. My sister just updated hers three days ago and now it doesn't work I guess it depends on the kobo.

I've had a Kobo Glo for over a year now, mostly because it's the only way I can keep my whole library while traveling and Kobo is very flexible with the ebook formats. I'm keeping it in a double folded small laptop sleeve (I couldn't get a Kobo specific sleeve). It's been jammed into my backpack, used as a pillow on a multi day wilderness hike and generally goes everywhere I go, everyday. No complaints so far :)

I don't have a kobo, but i use the app on my android tablet. It's pretty good for some classics and the free books are usually pretty good.

I like my Kobo :)
It seems pretty durable, as I don't travel that often and usually read books, I can admit that I don't keep it in the best of conditions but it seems to be durable enough for me!

Thanks for the heads up! I think I am going to stick with the Kindle Fire as my choice for e-reader and pick one up when I get the chance.

I had 2 kobos, and honestly I didn't have a problem with them. I now have switched to the ipad though, because I can get my books from both kobo and kindle on it.
