"Small Town Big City: When Time Stood Still" a book by Jeff A. Lopez, takes readers on a nostalgic journey through the colorful scenery of America in the 1960s. The book mixes the simplicity of small-town life with the complexity of city life.

The best thing about this book is that it tells a great story about the 1960s. Additionally, the music seems really good, and the songs are well organized, adding even more excitement to the story. Rock and roll songs by artists like Little Richard and Ray Charles are used as background music and to tell the story. They set the scene really well and make the readers care about the characters. Lopez gives close attention to every detail, from the dialogue to the settings to the atmosphere. This is how the book takes the reader to a different time.

Lopez also does a great job of building character. The characters in the book are very different from each other. For example, Nick Pagani is a mechanic who thinks a lot about himself, and Cindy Allison is a girl who doesn't follow the rules in her small town. Like many people in society in the 1960s, these characters don't just live in their environments; they also play a big role in shaping their own futures. Their complicated relationships and personal growth are shown with care, which makes them relatable and their journeys interesting.

Even though the story has a lot of characters and takes place in two different places, it is structured in a way that keeps things clear and moving forward. Lopez skillfully weaves together many subplots and themes, from young love to racial tensions, into a whole that fits together well and shows how unstable and dynamic the time was. This level of detail gives the story more depth and makes readers want to learn more about both the characters and the historical background.

The book has very good editing, with few minor typos and scenes that move quickly enough to keep the reader turning the pages. But there are some occasions when the writer uses sentences that are hard to understand. However, these instances are rare and don’t make the book difficult to read.

In conclusion, I rate "Small Town Big City: When Time Stood Still" 4 out of 5 stars. It is an interesting and robust book that effectively displays the atmosphere of the 1960s by means of vibrant characters, lively descriptions, and deep themes. The author managed to turn this into a beautiful remembrance of that period, with its bright sides and dark ones. The book has a minor issue with the dialogue, but its many good points make up for them, making it a memorable read. Readers who like books with a lot of historical detail and complicated character relationships will really enjoy this one.
