For me an audiobook is only good if you are following along with the book. If I just listen to the audio without the book I forget what I'm listening to because I get distracted because my vision isn't engaged.

The real thing, I only like audio books in the car or when I'm cleaning the house.

I have tried listening to audiobooks several times before, especially at school when we read some chapters of books we were gonna read. We usually read while the teacher plays the audiobook but i find that it distracts me sometimes, or most of the time that is and I end up with my mind roaming around. Also, I really prefer the real books since I like to highlight some phrases or words soemtimes.

I've tried audiobooks a few times, but I just can't handle it. My reading speed is so much faster that it makes it a bit irritating to sit and listen to a book when I can just pick the thing up and have it done in a fraction of the time. They also tend to remind me of school when teachers picked on someone to call in class. I was always several pages ahead of my classmates! So give me a readable copy over an audio version any day. :)

I definitely need the real thing. Audiobooks just cause me to zone out and rewinding is such a hassle compared to rereading.

I absolutely love audiobooks! I find it more interesting than just reading the book on my own. Besides, this give me a chance to do other things while I am listening to the book. I used to drive 100 miles a day round trip, on my commute to work and from work. Listening to audiobooks while I drove really relaxed me.
Additionally, it's the perfect solution on a night when you're too sleepy to read. Just let the audiobook put you to sleep! It also helps if the person narrating the book has a great speaking voice. Personally, I perfer an English and accent!

I don't go out of my way to look for the audiobook of a book, but if I really want to read a book and the physical or ebook copies are checked out then I will get the audiobook from my library. The only audiobook that I prefer over the text version is The Hunger Games series which I have listened to 3 times driving to and from school.

I once tried an audio book but it felt weird, the voices some times change and the pace of reading is just too slow for me.

I've been listening to a lot of audio books lately, but only because I can't easily get them with text; the library is just too far away. I definitely prefer the real thing though, because with audio you have two filters to go through; the author and the narrator. This makes twice the chance that something will go wrong.

When I was a kid I had a hard time falling asleep, so after my parents would tell us lights out, I would listen to audiobooks. I think they have their purpose. But I certainly do prefer holding a book in my hands and reading the 'old fashion way.'

If I'm not in my car or doing something where my hands are not free (like laundry or dishes), then I would rather have a physical book in my hand rather than listen to an audiobook because laying on my bed listening to audiobooks is like a way for me to get easily distracted, and then I have no idea what is going on in the book.

I'm not into audiobooks much. As a romance reader, I want the voices to match my ideal voice for the characters. There's this book that I've been really crushing on the hero. I bought the audiobook and I was so excited to listen to it. It so happens that the narrator is a woman and she sounded like an old lady when she's doing my hero's lines. I didn't try to listen to audiobooks since then.

I still prefer a regular book as I can read at my own pace. Also, the voice in audiobooks can be monotone at times which can be very annoying.
