Hello, I’m 40’s, in Iowa and I read incessantly. I seem to live in a part of the state where text messages are the extent of most peoples foray into the written word. I need a place where I can prove to myself that there are still people who “forget” to turn on the television.

I love to read. It might sound odd, but I find an indescribable yet quiet sense of joy and contentment when I discover a well written book that captures me. It seems to create a sense of connectedness and completeness for me, almost as if I have gained a foothold into something larger then myself. I guess, in an odd way, it’s almost spiritual for me.

hello! i grew up in nebraska and my family now lives in harlan iowa, so i am familiar with the stagnant minds of the midwest! I totally feel the same way about reading. there is nothing more important then being able to escape into a great piece of literature. what are your favorites?
