Walter is a Woogobee from another planet. Their planet was being attacked by an asteroid, and Walter's dad built a device (a World Vortex Locator) to get him a new home. When he pressed some buttons on the device and ran outside, he found himself in a strange place. He met some creatures whom he initially thought were pets. The creatures he saw were Bayon and his horse. Bayon tells Walter that they are in Arizona. When they pushed a few buttons, Bayon and Walter disappeared, and they found themselves in the village of Vidza, where they met Kian. What awaits them in Vidza? Will they be able to get back? Get a copy of Walter The Woogobee: The Vortex to Vidza by Brenda Beckelman to find out.

I was excited to read this book when I saw the subtitle "The Vortex to Vidza," and I am glad to say that the book was everything I had hoped for. This is the kind of book that will make a child think outside the box and make them know that science can be as exciting as magic. I love that this book is not a conventional bedtime story, as it will help children know what a vortex can do.

The book teaches the importance of helping people in need. The book also shows a peaceful way of resolving conflict. Everything does not call for war or a fight. Sometimes, an issue is just a case of misunderstanding or miscommunication, and both parties may be hurt by the issue. Both parties listening to each other will usually help create a peaceful environment. Finally, the illustrations present in the book were superb and made reading the book exciting.

What I do not like about this book is that there are sometimes no clear indications of which character is talking. Different sentences are just written in quotes, and you are expected to guess which character said it, and this brought a little confusion. This negative aspect is, however, minor since it occurred in just a few places. The book was professionally edited, and I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to kids above the age of one.

"Walter The Woogobee: The Vortex to Vidza" by Brenda Beckelman invites readers on an enchanting journey across galaxies, blending adventure, discovery, and the bonds of unexpected friendships. At the heart of this imaginative tale is Walter, a Woogobee from a planet under threat, propelled across space by a World Vortex Locator built by his father amidst an asteroid crisis.

The story unfolds with Walter's arrival in Arizona, where he encounters Bayon and his mysterious horse, setting the stage for a series of bewildering yet exhilarating events. Beckelman's narrative seamlessly transitions between worlds as Walter and Bayon activate the device once more, transporting them to the village of Vidza. Here, they meet Kian, a pivotal character whose role sparks intrigue and adds depth to the unfolding adventure.

Central to the novel's charm are the richly imagined settings and characters that Beckelman brings to life with vivid detail. From the bustling village of Vidza to the diverse creatures and landscapes encountered along the way, each scene is crafted to immerse readers in a world brimming with wonder and possibility.

The dynamics between Walter, Bayon, and Kian evolve organically, anchored by genuine emotions and shared objectives that resonate beyond the boundaries of their respective worlds. Themes of courage, resilience, and the power of unity underscore

A woogobee, the name alone will speak to a child's imagination. I love it when children's books are not only entertaining but also teach about conflict resolution and helping people in need. As for what a vortex can do, even I as a grown-up can learn from the book.
