Childhood bullies are some of the worst things everyone goes through, I believe. I am myself a victim of such bullying because I was a shy, reserved person who seldom said no to things. I can see myself in the characters. Your review made me think of my own story. so relatable. Fantastic review.

In this book, Sandy traces the life of a typical student in the contemporary world, especially one who comes from a disadvantaged family background; this book shows some of the challenges that these children go through. Thank you for the review.

"Life Shattered" by Sandy Graham. This heartwarming story follows Delbert Pillage, a high school student who overcomes bullying and poverty with the help of a few key supporters. It delves into topics like gifted education, pursuing a career in engineering, and the power of perseverance and love. Graham's realistic characters and technical details make for an engaging and inspiring read. Adding it to my reading list!

I love stories like these. For a child being bullied at school, to achieve what Delbert achieves is always good for the soul. It has that positive vibe that make you realize that, no matter what people's opinion about you, when you do you, you'll always will walk out a winner in the end. Thanks for a great review. Congrats on BOTD.

"Life Shattered" by Sandy Graham is a novel about Delbert Pillage, the main character, who is bullied in high school. The story follows his journey as he overcomes the challenges of growing up in a poor family and achieves his goals using his sharp mind. "The girls snickered and started up the path. Brett gave Delbert a shove that sent him flying back into the pool, then followed the girls." Being bullied as a child can be very hard.

A book about someone who gets bullied in school but manages to overcome all adversities and uses his intelligence to reach his goals? Count me in!! I love that this book is also rather detailed in the scientific aspects of the story so thanks for sharing that in your review!

It is good to read that there is nothing to dislike about the book and that the characters are outliers, which makes them really interesting and unique. It is true that love, certainly, can triumph over every obstacle and I am happy that Sylvia was there for Delbert. I look forward to reading the book and learning much more.
Many thanks for the review. :tiphat: :tiphat: :tiphat:

This book 1 of a trilogy is worth reading. Sandy Graham created realistic characters that the reader could believe in and feel like a part of the supportive community that was helping the main character to excel. The writing style makes you root for this disadvantaged, yet gifted kid who grows up to be a designer of jet planes during 1940's.The technical information used to describe Delbert’s scientific research and his flying of jets lent authenticity to the story and makes you want to finish the trilogy about Canada's jet program i.e Avro Arrow - an important part of Canadian and aerospace history.
