Personally I like reading the real thing. For some reason I cannot follow along to a story unless I read it myself. Im not sure if it is because I give the reading material my full attention, but even with a good book I cannot follow along if someone else is reading it to me.

I know that audiobooks are a happening thing right now, and I suppose if I had a job wherein I spent the bulk of my time on the road, audiobooks would be a Godsend; however, due to the fact that that isn't my situation, I prefer always to read the book over hearing it read to me. That is part of the joy of reading--actually curled up with the book. You just can't get that from hearing it.

I like to read the books myself. I get more into the books when its my voice reading the words. Listening to other people read makes me feel uncomfortable and distracted. I just can't get into the stories as much if I am just listening. Real books are way better!!!

I tried to get into audio books once but I found I just zoned out and had no idea what was happening. When I'm reading if I start to zone out it is usually because I am tired so I fall asleep. I usually just reread that page. However if I fell asleep while listening I might never find my place again.

When I'm too busy to sit down, I'd feel guilty if I do. Audiobooks remedy that situation. Although it can be quite frustrating when you don't understand a sentence the reader just said and you can't go back. Still, it keeps you company. I listen to audio books when I wish to be lulled to sleep, too, on some occasions. I love how the reading of The Hobbit was done in one youtube video. Pity I can't remember the name of the reader! I'll link it back if I find it. :)

I can't sit still and listen to an audio book, and if I try and do something else while listening to it I struggle to follow the story. Also, most of the time the voice of the person reading the book annoys me. It's better when I can give each character a voice in my mind :P
You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.

Depends on what I'm doing. I usually love to have a book in my hands, but lately I've been downloading a lot of books to my phone to listen to at work, while exercising, doing housework, etc. my life has become very busy lately and I don't have a lot of down time. Audio books help me keep up plus it saves me money since a lot of places have discounts or free audiobooks with subscriptions.

I've thought about switching over to some audio books for when I'm driving, but I can never remember to bring along my iPod. I also can't stay awake long enough to list to a full chapter before bed. Guess its still the old fashion way for me.

I am really sentimental when it comes to my books. When I buy a book they remind me of what I was doing and where I was at the point of my life when I picked it out, like what I needed to hear to get me through my personal crap that I needed to work through. However, I still like audio books because of the additional performance element presented by a voice actor, but I still prefer a paper copy.

I prefer reading the books over the audio files however I never have a lot of time my self to read so I usually listen to the audio files. So I listen to audio files most of the time only because I don't have the time.

I can't really verbalize why precisely, but I've never been able to get into audiobooks. I'm not really a fan of others reading to me, for the most part. The only exception being for studying/medical information review...sometimes I'll even record myself going over the notes or explaining the concept and then play it while I'm going for a run. For enjoyment though? I'll take good old reading.
