A world without racial discrimination will be a beautiful one. Its usually heartbreaking when one reads experience s of those going through racial discrimination. This book will surely be an interesting read.

This book seems to be about people living together. As human, our nature is to be social beings. We all need each other.
Am looking forward to reading this book.
Congratulations on being the BOTD!

It must have been a difficult time, in this decade of changing attitudes, new freedoms, racial acceptance. In the usual reactionary attitude of traditional societies I can only imagine how difficult it must have been, not only for the person of colour, but those forward thinking individuals trying to change society’s, let’s face it, cruelty. This book is excellent at trying to highlight this.

"Deceptive Calm" by Patricia Skipper narrates the story of racial discrimination of the 1960s. Victims struggle continually with self acceptance into a broader society. Trisha, a white girl faces discrimination over her friendship with Vanessa, a black woman. When Ku Klux Klan targeted her black friend, Tricia became a victim of the attack. Several aspects of society faced discrimination including businesses, medical care and education.

This book holds a shining example of "Friends stick together to the end" Trisha is indeed a good friend to Vanessa having to stand with her and her child come what may. I would love to learn how she (Vanessa) was able to pull through despite racism.

Wow! Patricia Skipper's 'Deceptive Calm' seems a thriller, for the review is so suspensful, tackling different angles that will leave you guessing. And as an individual with so much identity crisis, I will love to give it a read. Great BOTD!

The book depicts how societal prejudices and racial discrimination can make one's life very difficult through the life of Vanessa. I am curious to know how Vanessa overcomes all the challenges. I enjoy great tales, and this one seems worthy of trying. Thank you for your great analysis of the book.

Okay, so I picked up Deceptive Calm because the cover looked kinda mysterious, and I'm obsessed with anything '60s. But this book is not what I expected! 🤩 It's like the author, Patricia Skipper, took the chill vibes of the decade and flipped them upside down. 🤯
Vanessa, the main character, is totally relatable. She's just trying to figure out life, you know? But the world around her is crazy! There's this whole peace-and-love thing going on, but it's like there's a dark undercurrent. 🌊 It's super intense! 😱
The book is a total page-turner. I couldn't put it down! 📖 The ending blew my mind. 💥 If you're into stories that make you think, this is your jam. Highly recommend! 💯

Deceptive Calm is like stepping into a totally different world. It's set in the groovy '60s and '70s, but it's not all peace and love. The book follows Vanessa, this ordinary girl living in extraordinary times.
I loved how the author, Patricia Skipper, showed us that things weren't as perfect as they seemed. Beneath the shiny surface of the decade, there was a lot of stuff going on. The story is super engaging and keeps you hooked. It's like watching a really cool movie, but with way more depth.
If you're into books that make you think about the past and how it shapes today, then Deceptive Calm is definitely for you. It's a total page-turner!

The review makes "Deceptive Calm" by Patricia Skipper sound like a compelling read, especially with its exploration of complex themes like racial tension, friendship, and identity. I'm particularly intrigued by Vanessa's struggle for self-acceptance and the strong, courageous character of Trisha—definitely adding this book to my reading list!

The review quite successfully captures the attention of the readers without spoiling the book for them and gives just enough details to get them hooked. Reading this review along with the sample available on Amazon gets the reader intrigued and eventually compelling them into getting in the book world to explore.
