The exploration of lesser-known facets of espionage and sabotage during the war adds depth to the narrative, shedding light on covert operations that often escape the spotlight in discussions of major military battles.
Its fascinating how so many distructive events can intertwine, instead of just one at a time. A well defined review. Thank you.

From the review, this should be an exciting story. World War stories are always exciting to read. I will grab this one later and enjoy it. I will invite my colleagues to join me as we share every bit of it.

I love when an author does genuine research to enhance their writing. It sounds as though this author put a lot of dedication in making sure they created a novel that can draw the reader in a well as making sure it was historically accurate.

This is an interesting review! I sampled the opening episode of the incident with the burning Mont Blanc about to explode, and Captain Aime Le Medec ready to sacrifice his life for his patriotic duty. Your review has put this episode in perspective. I have yet to meet and greet Ben Stendt you mention in the review, but I am intrigued by your comments about the blend of real and fictional characters in this thriller.

I'm really glad that this review resonated with me and sparked my interest in the book! The way it blends fact with fiction is definitely a strong point—it adds a sense of authenticity that really draws one in. It's one of those reads that feels grounded in reality while still delivering an engaging story.

I am a very peaceful person by nature and therefore am against any manifestations of violence. Certainly, you agree that war is quintessential to everything worse in humans, and it won't surprising that I prefer to pass the book dedicated to the subject. Still, congratulations on BOTD!

Well written review with a great analysis of the book. I'm not a fan of historical fiction, to be honest. But I can see how many readers will like the story because of its harmonious blend of reality and fantasy, especially for war fans. Congrats on BOTD

Historical fiction fans will love this book. From the difficulty the French had with transporting goods across the ocean, not knowing who may be your enemy or not, and the realism, this will make for a great read. Thanks for the review!

I'm not sure why it is, but I have a love for stories set in the First and Second World Wars. This story is a part of the war I'm unfamiliar with but I'm sure I will enjoy it all the same. The focus on the character of the saboteur will be a different one for me as he would be the anti-hero.
