Review of Land of Pamadia
Land of Pamadia by Daria K. Willson, MEd, is a book for children of all ages. The book immediately draws the reader's attention with its colorful picture illustrations. The author has used words that rhyme with the actual word, so the children will be kept engaged. Although the author has hinted at the rhyming words in the beginning, it will still be a fun activity for the children to guess the words. The book is mainly filled with poems that rhyme and describe the land and animals in Pamadia.
I like how the author has created suspense at the start of the book by inviting the guests to present their tickets and enter the world of Pamadia. The children will be filled with joy and excitement as they eagerly anticipate discovering what Pamadia has in store for them. One of the lines from the book I like is "As Flink Plamingos sleep, in Tussel Cuff Trees Whose flowers grow together like puff pas-tr-ies." Illustrated with pictures, this part of the book gave me a sense of joy as I saw the Pink Flamingoes sleep in these flowers. The tree ascends and the flowers close up, protecting the flamingoes throughout the night. The book made me feel like I was in a forest with all these animals in their natural habitat.
The only thing I did not like in the book was that throughout the book, the author used the rhyming word for the same animal. For example, Pink Flamingoes are referred to as Flink Plamingo's throughout the book. I feel that from the mid-section of the book, they should have been referred to as Pink Flamingoes, as it otherwise gets monotonous or too repetitive. But that's just my opinion.
I would happily rate this book 5 out of 5 stars, as the negatives I mentioned did not stop me from reading. I think the negatives I mentioned would not affect the children anyway. I did not find any errors, hence the editing was exceptional.
I recommend this book to children of all ages. Parents, guardians, and teachers can read it to them, making it interactive. I am sure the children will enjoy everything the land of Pamadia has to offer.
