I recommend *Deceptive Calm* to readers who enjoy historical fiction, have an interest in social justice, and want to explore the complex racial dynamics of the 1960s American South. It’s a thought-provoking and engaging novel that vividly captures a turbulent era. As someone who is always drawn to historical fiction that tackles challenging subjects, I found this novel to be both powerful and deeply thought-provoking.

I'd recommend this book to people who like to read American historical fiction. The trivia facts that were given were very fun to read. I would advise caution to some readers though because of the sensitive topics this book includes.

I've been slowly working through this book. Looks like a good one for fans of historical fiction related to racism in America!
I am an avid reader. I typically read 1-2 books per week. I enjoy a wide array of genres including Sci Fi, Action/Thriller, and Historical Fiction.

As a geologist and christian, I also particularly enjoy books on science and faith.

I would recommend Deceptive Calm to adult readers who love historical fiction and romance that talk about important social issues like racism—with a caveat regarding the high level of mature themes in the book.
