When I first looked at the cover, I thought it would be about a family looking for a family member who was presumed dead. The theme of racism was not hinted at in the cover, so it surprised me.

I agree with you that the muted colours add to the cover's design. It is almost reminiscent of a detective story cover!Cristina-Ioana Toader wrote: ↑10 Aug 2024, 01:27 I like how the cover subtly blends the Golden Gate Bridge with the birth certificate, capturing the essence of the story's themes of identity and hidden truths. The minimalist design and muted colors add a layer of intrigue, perfectly setting the tone for the novel's exploration of complex personal secrets.
I am confused how the Golden Gate Bridge conveys any of the stories themes, though. Can you clarify what you mean? I suppose bridges can represent a journey and the choices made along it, such as whether to cross the bridge or not and the impact that has on a person's life, metaphorically.
However, I do not feel that the cover conveys the romance element of the story. I think including Vanessa, perhaps facing Tod Von Westerkamp but looking over her shoulder, would improve the cover, rather than including the birth certificate on the cover.

Thanks for your feedback! I understand your point about the Golden Gate Bridge. I see it as representing not just a physical journey but also a metaphor for the crossing between hidden truths and identity—like how Vanessa's story seems to bridge two worlds: her past and her present, or her search for the truth and the deception that surrounds it.Tessa Stewart wrote: ↑02 Oct 2024, 08:19I agree with you that the muted colours add to the cover's design.
