All I know is my next holiday is a return to the Big Apple, I love NY, hoping to catch up on a few things I missed last time round. Want to see a few shows, head over to the Statue of Liberty (if the strike is over!) and see the Museum of Modern Art. 8)

When we picture our next break from work, we think we’ll spend our time unplugged and slowly refreshing from our day-to-day. But sometimes, the stress of missing work or planning the perfect itinerary can leave us more stressed than when we started. Sometimes we need a vacation from our vacation.

My last vacation was on our 10 year anniversary, we went to Mt. Charleston and stayed in one of the cabins. It was really romantic!

I've just returned from a fantastic break in Chicago, beautiful city, lovely people and loads to see and do. Met up with some family members I hadn't see for such a long time, which was brilliant & also did all the tourist things. So many fantastic museums and galleries and such amazing architecture: given my interest in WW11 (and all the books I've read on the period!) the highlight for me had to be the tour of the U-505 submarine at The Museum of Science and Industry & the coal mine tour - awesome really is the only word.
Weather was really weird, first couple of days beautiful sunshine absolutely georgous then lashings of rain followed by actual snow  and OMG it got so cold. It was a shock after leaving Ireland & a fabulous Spring with abundant daffodils and cherry blossom to find the trees in Chicago looking like a mid winter landscape - rather weird.
And amid all the museums, galleries, shops and restaurants I even managed to fit in a visit to a Barnes & Noble & of course the Chicago Public Library - bet you are all surprised by that!. :)
This was my first time in the US and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. For a big city it was a pleasant surprise to find the people, bus & taxi drivers even stranger on the street so helpful and incredibly friendly.
An immensly enjoyable holiday & fingers crossed I'll be back.

Last winter in Bucharest. It was great because it snowed a lot and it felt a bit like The Day After Tomorrow.

May 2013. I went to Los Cabos, Mexico. It was my first vacation by myself and I had the most amazing time.

I haven't taken a vacation in a few years. I need to, but it's hard to find the time when work isn't required.
