Your review is fantastic! It made the book sound so captivating that I can't wait to dive into it. It seems like an emotional rollercoaster, and I'm really rooting for Lily to succeed. I truly hope that the story has a happy ending.

Indeed, the fact that the author included an article from the ‘Slave Code’ at the opening of every chapter enables the reader to realize the degrading nature and indignity brought about by the abhorrent industry of slavery.
-The fact that the author had twenty three articles from the 'Slave Code' to include into the twenty three chapters, show the dedication and research done. An amazing review. Thank you.

This is an interesting review. I'm very intrigued by Lily and her life first as a slave, then as something bigger later on. It also sounds like Lily's life was not free of suffering because the reviewer describes the ill treatment she recieved all her life like being separated from her mother, her friend changing his character and mistreating her, among other things. I'd love to read the book to see how she overcame all of this.

Drama about friendship and slavery is great for making the readers care about the main character's fate. Great BotD as a Boxing Day gift!

Well-written review! I do agree, the author inserting portions of the slave code was quite jarring in the sense it introduced readers to just how horrifically slaves were treated not just by society but even by the government. People were so convinced it was okay to treat someone of a different appearance different. Two sayings I've heard people state about racism that I 100% agree with, "we all bleed the same blood" and "children aren't born with hatred and bigotry, they learn it." James was taught bigotry, he was not born with it. Your review was well-written and quite thought-provoking, excellent work!

The review is a great one and really does captivate one’s interest in wanting to read the book. From my own personal sampling l loved how the author has a gift of description and l especially appreciated how the author has an ability to catch emotions on paper.

Sounds great in review, but unfortunately completely not my cup of tea. This storyline is too closely related to slavery, racism, discrimination and all other unsavory topics for me to be able to enjoy reading it. No offense and most sincere congratulations on BOTD!

This book by Londyn Skye is a romance novel showing what a former slave suffered because of skin colour difference, even from her once good friend. Congratulations on winning BOTD.

This book is intertwined with heavy subject matters in a romance novel. This should be an intriguing and thrilling read. Thank you for the review.

Witnessing Lily's strength and determination in the face of unimaginable hardship was truly moving. Despite the constant cruelty and oppression, she never gives up on her dreams or her spirit. Her resilience is a testament to the power of the human spirit to endure even the darkest of times.
