Re: Do you listen to music while you read?

Post by JanetteStar »

Generally, I do not listen to music when I read as I find it distracting. But if I am in a situation where music is being played (such as a doctor's office) and I am in the mood for reading then I will go ahead and read. If a song comes on that I really like the lyrics to then I will usually have to put down my reading material while I sing or hum along to the song.

I used to try to listen to music whilst reading because it's meant to be a really good way to build up concentration, but it's sooo hard. I would rather listen to something really quietly and without lyrics.

Sometimes. Though, it's usually heavy metal blasting in my ears.

I dislike listening to music as I read unless it is a popular book that has been made into a film. If it is then i like to listen to the soundtrack in the background.

no the music would really bother my reading and I would forget where I was at in the book.

I can never read and listen to music at the same time! My head gets wrapped up in too many worlds that I forget what's real and what isn't

No I don't like to listen to music while I read. I find it to be too distracting. I like to only focus on doing one thing at a time even if it is just leisurely reading.

Only sometimes do I listen to soft music while reading, it helps me think about the book more and imagine that I'm there.

I prefer to have silence when I read. I feel if my surroundings are quiet I can immerse myself in the book I would be reading more easily.

I generally read the best when I am alone and it's quiet. However, if I am in a noisy environment, I like to put peaceful, ambient music on to block out the distracting noises and allow me to concentrate on my reading.

I can't read if there is music or really bad background noise, I find it distracts me.
