Just like in the case of Charlie Horace Stoker and Margret, I do not appreciate the idea of forcing two people into marriage because it usually does not turn out well.

Most importantly, he lets us know that wealth, success (and sometimes, hard work) will not always satisfy the deep-seated longing of a human being. Stoker had success, yet his life kept taking a downward turn.
- Life wouldn't be complete if it didn't have a downside too. This makes it relatable. Thank you for a befitting review.

This book is a reminder that marriage should not be forced on anyone, even if there's unplanned pregnancy. There's an option for co-parenting. I empathize with the young lovers for being forced into a marriage they weren't ready for.

"The Tally Man" by Tod Benjamin is book II in The Stoker Trilogy and Charlie Horace Stoker is the major character in this book. Charlie is a successful salesman and a protégé of Stephen Collick, a close friend of Charlie’s late father and his mother’s supporter. Collick offered 20-year-old Charlie an opportunity to build a commercial career in London’s East End. Charlie becomes very popular and successful establishing many admiring customers and colleagues. He impregnates a Catholic girl and a forced marriage ensues. His life is crumbling in a loveless marriage but he continues to help solve customer and colleague problems until he meets Sally Cutter in 1936. He falls in love with Sally but her life is seriously affected by Hitler’s Nazi Party and Moseley’s anti-Semitic Fascists marching on Cable Street in London. Charlie creates a scheme to protect Sally’s future but Sally wants the plan changed to suit her own terms. Benjamin wrote an excellent story of love mixed with unreciprocated love interwoven with history in the late 1930s. I look forward to reading this book to learn more about Margaret, Sally Cutter and Millie Stoker.

This book delivers a compelling exploration of flawed humanity, love, and mentorship. Charlie Horace Stoker’s journey highlights the emptiness that wealth and success alone cannot fill, emphasizing the profound need for love and connection to achieve true fulfillment. Nice review.

This story seems to be utterly relatable and interesting. I like reading about emotions, relationship complications and love. But as the review mentioned, it also discusses business aspects and lessons which is a bonus. I look forward to reading this book.

After reading your wonderful review, I agree that the book's cover page needs to be revised, so it can foreground the storyline in a better way. Thank for the good job!

Charlie is a highly successful salesman, and yet he is not happy. The author highlights this point that no matter the wealth and success a person achieves, a longing for love is present. Forced into marriage after he got a girl pregnant, Charlie realizes the void in his life. Will he find love?

I thoroughly enjoyed "The Tally Man" by Tod Benjamin, which masterfully weaves together themes of love, mentorship, and self-discovery. Charlie Horace Stoker's journey is both relatable and heartbreaking, and Benjamin's exploration of the human condition is insightful and thought-provoking. The historical context adds depth to the narrative, and the writing is engaging and polished. Overall, this is a fantastic read that I highly recommend.

Given the timeline of the story, it's believable that Charlie got forced into marriage after getting a girl pregnant. When two people do not marry out of love, there is loneliness. Beside love, he has everything but that cannot make up for lack of love. I'm curious to know if he ever find the love of his life.

'The Tally Man' by Tod Benjamin majorly tells the story of Charlie Horace Stoker, a successful salesman and a protege of Stephen Collick, who is portrayed as a flawed perfectionist. This is a story of love and unrequited love, Laced with history. Congratulations on BOTD.

“The idea that perfection is possible while our flaws continue to have an impact on our lives” is a truth, and I'd like to see how Charlie and Margret's lives play out.
