I read books for reviewing, of course, and I try and pick books that I think I will like by reading the summary. But, I also often pick books for reading pleasure, just to keep myself motivated and learn all the new stuff that I want to learn.

I read for pleasure far more than I read to review. I love to read and reviewing is fun but it’s like an added bonus for me to get paid for a book.

The main reason I read is for pleasure. There is an excitement I feel when I read books and notin can compare to that feeling

Before joining OBC, I sometimes read just for pleasure. Interestingly, when I started reading Deceptive Calm by Patricia Skipper, it was to spot errors and other details for writing the review for OBC. However, the book captivated me so much that I forgot that I had to write a review. I read it off for pleasure first then reread it for the review. :)

But every now and again, I read a book purely for my own interest. I find that I pay less attention to grammar or spelling errors and either enjoy the book or not, purely as a reader.
How about others? Do you do the same?
Since I’ve started reviewing, I try and pick books I would enjoy reading just for pleasure. Having to pay attention for grammatical errors and typos does not really take away from the enjoyment of the book, but it does decrease the speed at which I usually read when it is just for pleasure. Beside the book I am reading for review purposes I usually have an audiobook that I listen to when I am working around the house or driving in the car. So yes, I still read just for pleasure. :)

Aren't audiobooks a great way to multi-task? Less grammatical errors too. That's a great way to read for pleasure and get paid for it.

I always read for the fun of it, that is why i don't select just any book. Books that I don't find fun are never finished no matter what. Reviewing is only a plus.
