ARA Review by Kris Jane Sayo of In It Together

The ARA Review Exchange is a system in which authors review other authors' books, generlaly in exchange for getting their own book reviews by other authors. However, the person who reviews a author's book is not the same person whose book that author reviewed. This way, author reviews do not influence each other, such as by an author being inclined to reward a good review by deliving one in return or deliver a negative review as revenge.

"In It Together: The Beautiful Struggle Uniting Us All" by Eckhart Aurelius Hughes is an inspiring and introspective work that explores the fundamental connections between people. Hughes builds the book around the idea of the "Two Yous," a concept distinguishing the true self—our consciousness or spiritual core—from the false self, which is dominated by ego and material concerns. This idea serves as a springboard for understanding inner conflict and finding a path toward harmony and inner peace.

The book emphasizes the transformative power of love, empathy, and self-acceptance. Hughes argues that unconditional love and forgiveness are essential not only for personal growth but also for fostering deeper connections with others. By highlighting historical figures who fought for justice and equality, the author underscores the importance of challenging societal norms in pursuit of collective progress.

However, the book is not without its flaws. Some readers may find the prose repetitive and the structure somewhat disorganized, which can detract from its overall impact. Additionally, while the themes are powerful, some of the arguments might feel overly simplified, particularly when addressing complex topics like systemic inequality or the intricacies of human relationships. These shortcomings might make it less engaging for those seeking a more detailed or nuanced perspective.

Despite these critiques, many readers find value in Hughes’ genuine message and philosophical approach. His exploration of spirituality is inclusive, offering insights that resonate across a range of beliefs. The book encourages readers to embark on an introspective journey, challenging them to reevaluate their priorities and embrace a more compassionate view of life.

Overall, "In It Together" is a heartfelt and thought-provoking work. While it may not suit everyone’s taste, its core message of unity and personal transformation provides meaningful guidance for those seeking a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them, 5 out of 5.
