The Inheritance by Celena L. Parish is her first novel. It explores lesbian relationships and includes suspense, drama, adventure, and crime. Parish lives in Southern California.

Jessica DeLeon is from America. When she finds out she was adopted, she travels to the western coast of Italy to look for her birth parents. When she discovers her extended family, she decides to settle in Italy. She builds a loving relationship when a long-term friend, Amanda, becomes her girlfriend. There is lots of action throughout the story, including kidnap, arson, attempted murder and the mafia. There are family secrets that put Jessica in danger. She wants to lead a happy life in Italy, but before that is possible, she must help the police catch the person who is putting her life in danger.

The writing style flows and is accessible and engaging. The story is well-structured. The first chapter starts with a vivid description of the Italian coastal town where the story is set. Italian words and phrases throughout the book work well and conjure up Italian culture. The author effectively incorporates dialogue, allowing readers to connect more with the story.

There are some lesbian relationships in the book. The main one is between the protagonist, Jessica, and her girlfriend, Amanda. Another one is between two more minor characters, Rachel and Gia. These relationships are well portrayed and should interest readers who want to read about lesbian relationships. There are sex scenes which are tastefully described.

The characters in the book are quite well drawn but could have been developed more. For example, there were hardly any descriptions of appearance. Although the book is well written sometimes I found it hard to believe what I was reading. For example, when Jessica’s life was in danger, I didn’t feel scared for her as I assumed she would be rescued.

The Inheritance would appeal to readers interested in lesbian romance and drama. It is well-written and enjoyable to read. I have taken two stars off because more character development is needed and for the occasional lack of believability. I award this book 3 out of 5 stars.

A nice review I would say. The storyline appears to be very interesting. While reading the review, I felt as if I was going through a film story.
The book seems to have dealt with two issues - searching one's extended family and having lesbian relationship. I would go through the book may be at a later date.

A lesbian romance set in Italy is enough for me to add this book to my TBR. I also appreciate your review for sharing more about it—like how it’s an action-packed suspense drama—without giving too much away.^^

The mix of drama, suspense, and romance sounds interesting, especially with the Italian setting. While I’m intrigued by the plot, the lack of character development and occasional believability issues would probably make me hesitate to read it. It seems like it might be enjoyable for some, though.

I haven’t read The Inheritance, but from the review, it sounds like an interesting story with a mix of suspense, romance, and crime.
