Review of Memoir of a Deserter
Memoir of a Deserter by Thomas Foster is a book that focuses on the author's life. The author tells readers about the story of his birth and his childhood. He was raised by different people who taught him various things. Foster also mentions how his life was in high school and how he was addicted to weed.
Foster describes his experience of moving back to Galveston, Texas and starting a new life with his partner, Simone. He gets a job at the same insurance company as Simone but finds the work unfulfilling and is fired. The author then realizes that he needs to make a change in his life and joins the Army.
I like his friendship with Josh and Lisa and how they enjoyed spending time on the Seawall, where they would smoke, read the Bible, and pray together. I can understand why Simone was threatened by Foster's friendship with Josh and Lisa. She didn't like that they didn't share her interests, such as watching TV. She wanted attention from her partner, which is natural. I love how loyal Simone was to him, and I like that he didn't take her for granted.
I found no errors while reading the book, showing it was exceptionally well edited. I found no dislikes while reading this book. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The author's writing style was engrossing. He also added an element of humor. He also pays attention to detail and follows the story chronologically.
Overall, this book is about the author's journey of self-discovery and his search for a place in the world. The author eventually realizes that he needs to make a change in his life and joins the Army. It is a significant step for the author, as it shows that he is willing to take risks and pursue his own path. Grab a copy to find out how his journey in the Army went. I recommend this book to people looking for their way in life. It will inspire them.
