Memoir of a Deserter by Thomas Foster is a book that focuses on the author's life. The author tells readers about the story of his birth and his childhood. He was raised by different people who taught him various things. Foster also mentions how his life was in high school and how he was addicted to weed.

Foster describes his experience of moving back to Galveston, Texas and starting a new life with his partner, Simone. He gets a job at the same insurance company as Simone but finds the work unfulfilling and is fired. The author then realizes that he needs to make a change in his life and joins the Army.

I like his friendship with Josh and Lisa and how they enjoyed spending time on the Seawall, where they would smoke, read the Bible, and pray together. I can understand why Simone was threatened by Foster's friendship with Josh and Lisa. She didn't like that they didn't share her interests, such as watching TV. She wanted attention from her partner, which is natural. I love how loyal Simone was to him, and I like that he didn't take her for granted.

I found no errors while reading the book, showing it was exceptionally well edited. I found no dislikes while reading this book. I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. The author's writing style was engrossing. He also added an element of humor. He also pays attention to detail and follows the story chronologically.

Overall, this book is about the author's journey of self-discovery and his search for a place in the world. The author eventually realizes that he needs to make a change in his life and joins the Army. It is a significant step for the author, as it shows that he is willing to take risks and pursue his own path. Grab a copy to find out how his journey in the Army went. I recommend this book to people looking for their way in life. It will inspire them.

Maybe it's because I didn't grow up in a bellicose country, but I've always wondered what leads people to join the Army and, in this case, what gets them to leave. What a unique memoir! Thank you for your review.

It seems to me that Foster does not try to hide any of his failings. Indeed, he tries to make up for them by doing what he considers his duty. I am led by this review to feel sorry for Simone since she didn’t get the kind of partner that she wanted. Congratulations on BOTD!

Based on the title, I would guess the author at one point leaves the Army. Must be interesting for people looking at the option of joining when they feel unfulfilled in life, it is always good to read from first-hand experience. A touch of humor adds to the pleasure of reading.

"Memoir of a Deserter" by Thomas Foster is an honest recollection of his life, from childhood challenges to seeking his purpose as a young adult to defecting from duty and choosing a new life. The sample was self-effacing, reflective, and funny. Strangely, this review only seems to cover the sample.
