I have only read a few of the sample pages on Amazon, and I can say that the book is really moving. When the author says that the real heroes are the ones who did not come back to tell about it, it really speaks volumes about the sacrifice that our men and women in uniform make to protect their countries from both foreign and domestic threats to national sovereignty. A big salute to them.
Many thanks for this amazing review, @Schyk Marcus.

Memoir of a Deserter is a book about the author's life in the army. I liked reading the sample. The author explained his raw emotions to the readers during his early days in Nevada. Thanks for the review. Congrats on the BOTD!

I'm not a fan of memoirs, so I don't think this book is for me. However, the story sounds intriguing. Smoking weed and reading the Bible isn't something everyone does. I'm glad he realized he needed to make a change for the better. I am curious to find out if he found what he was looking for.

I must admit at first I thought that it's just going to be a army orientated book, which would not interest me at all. However it seems like a much more intriguing story which not only covers the army but so much more. Thanks ks for a good review. Congrats on BOTD.

I appreciate your insights on “Memoir of a Deserter.” The author’s journey through childhood and his relationships, particularly with Josh and Lisa, adds depth to his narrative. It’s interesting how Foster’s experiences shaped his decisions, leading him to join the Army in search of fulfillment.

Terribly sorry to say, but memoir never was the genre I took much interest in. The retelling of life experiences of the strangers holds no appeal to my tastes in literature, because I don't believe it is my business to stick my nose in private matters, and therefore I will have to pass the book. Still congratulations on BOTD!

This book sounds like a relatable piece. Although I'm more into fiction, memoirs are not most appealing genre for me, but this one sounds like an eventful tale of life. I would love to give it a try. Congratulations to the author.

"Memoir of a Deserter" by Thomas Foster is a book based on the author’s life. He tells readers about his childhood, life in high school and his addiction to weed. Foster moved back to Galveston, TX and started a new life with his partner Simone. They both went to work for the same insurance company but he was fired for poor performance. He then realized he needed to change his life so he joined the U.S. Army. The sample does not cover his experiences in the Army so one needs to read the book to learn about his desertion from the Army and what happened to him. He served in Afghanistan and Iraq, and the U.S. lost hundreds of soldiers to death and major injury. The sample was good so I expect the remainder of the book to be exciting with action and suspense. I look forward to reading the remainder of the book.

The author's journey right from his childhood to finally finding his calling in the army is interesting to read about. The various lessons he learns and straying away from the path to finally coming back to the path is something many can relate to.
