The review first indicated how the author organized the book and included the titles of the short stories therein. The various experiences in the author's life such as his career in criminal justice, that influenced the tales, were later laid out. Included were brief snippets of each story and the impression each had on the reviewer.
A great review! It suggested that the stories were read and were thoroughly enjoyed. Great signpost for lovers of short stories.

There seems to be a lot of short stories packed in this book. Makes you wonder if they are tied by something greater. The Pimp story sounds pretty interesting. Can't wait to finish reading it.
I write the best reviews possible. :idea2:

Thank you for your wonderfully insightful and heartfelt review of Fact Check and More Probing Tales! I’m thrilled to hear how deeply Toby Dawes’ misadventures, Tom Hemmings’ enigmatic encounters, and the blend of humor and existential reflection resonated with you. Your observation about life as the anthology’s unifying thread truly captures the essence of these stories—I wanted readers to see both the absurdity and profundity in everyday struggles and your analysis is spot-on.

It’s gratifying to know that characters like Brandi, Sally, and even the unsettling Daniel Geegax left a lasting impression. The bird’s fate in “Fact Check” was a twist born from life’s unpredictability, and I’m glad it struck a chord. Your mention of the colloquial dialogue and pandemic-era tales warms my heart; balancing relatability with strangeness is a tightrope I love walking.

Thank you again for your generous praise and for eloquently highlighting the book’s quirks and questions. Here’s to stories that make us laugh, squirm, and rethink the world!

"Fact Check and More Probing Tales" by James Hanna is the 6th book he has written and it includes 22 short stories. These stories cover a very wide range of topics about modern life and some of them are very humorous and some will cause readers to think. Hanna wrote these stories at different times in his life and they were published in several magazines. Each story has an interesting title and several titles are funny. Hanna had a long career in the criminal justice system so many of the stories are about his experiences. Several of the stories involve Toby Dawes, a young man from Indiana whose dad took him to Michigan City when he was 17 to get some sexual experience. Toby met Brandi at the brothel and he fell in love with her and his quest to marry her led to several adventures. There are also a few stories about Tom Hemmings, a guard at the penal farm and in a later story he had become a counselor at the prison. Three of the stories are about Donald Trump including one that details the first impeachment and the pandemic. I am planning to read all 22 stories.

The short stories are unique and are all centred on life, which gives a sense of relatability for the readers. The pop culture references are fun. The stories are somewhat hilarious and therefore enjoyable. The author also touches on Donald Trump's impeachment in one of his stories. I'm sure readers will enjoy this book.
