Persevere, almost always. That said, I was reading Pygmy by Chuck Palahniuk recently and even though it is a short book, with bite-sized chapters, fast-paced etc., I just reached a point where I could not be bothered.

If I'm not into a story and I always give it at least two or three chapters if I can. But if not I put it back on the shelf for a few months or so and try again after.

I usually try to read at least half of the book. Some books start out really slow, or I'm not in the right mood when I start reading them. I've had to stop trying on some. There is one book I tried to finish for an entire month lol, I just couldn't stand to read more than a few pages each time. I would just read a few pages then skip to another book. I should have gave up sooner, but at some point it was almost like a challenge, that I ultimately failed. :)

I never quit before the fifth chapter, but if I still don't seem to enjoy the book, then I put it aside and find a new book.

If a book is not interesting after a quarter of the way through I delete it from my Kindle and read something else. There is no end of better material out there. I always keep a few books in my 'to be read folder' so I can get stuck into something else before the guilt of quitting a book sets in!

I have to finish it, no matter what. If the beginning is boring, I hope it will get better. By the time I'm halfway through it, I'm invested in finishing it, even if I don't enjoy it.

Such situations barely arise since only a handful of books actually compel you to keep them away from your sight. Recently I had begun reading young fiction when two books bored me to death namely The Average Indian Male by Cyrus Broacha and Too Wise To Be Foolish by Gauri Jayraman. I wont say they were horrible books but yes the content of these books was too much stagnant. Even the shortest situations were dragged over pages which made it a complete no-no to read.

I have never not finished a book before, and hard as I try - even if the book is boring and drags on - I have never had it in me to just put it away and stop reading. I feel like maybe there's some big finale or event that the book has been leading up to that I'll miss, and I'd hate that. So even though it takes a couple of extra to hours to read, I'll finish it.

i am not a patient person; if i dont like a book, i immediately close it and return or shelf it until, well, forever. then, i continue to complain about it so that i none of my friends can read it either.

I try to keep reading, continue to be bored, read the ending and then skim over the rest! In that order.

I happen to.finish all of the books unless for some reason it's offensive to me. Most of the uninteresting books end up ending in a high note. Sure enough a few of them dissapoints too but I still like taking my chance

I try to finish every book I start because I really don't like not finishing books. I feel like some books, even if they have a slow start, can really pick up later on and I hate to miss out just because some parts are hard to get through. However, I have a growing list of books to read and I also don't want to waste my time reading a book that I don't like. Books that aren't interesting for me are a chore to read and I don't like to think of reading at any time to be a chore, so I'll most likely just not finish reading it.

I share such books with a few close friends interested in reading books and try to seek opinions about that book. Opinions differ many a times and end up in good discussions.

I normally finish it. I have a hard time not completing books. There is only one book I can remember that I did not finish, and it was because someone horrible had given it to me, and it was a horrible book, so I stopped halfway through and returned it, along with the promise to never speak to that person again.
