Interesting story, and while it sounds a bit unusual for historical fiction to involve an actual curse, every detail seems to fit perfectly to the plot. To be honest, slavery is the topic that makes me cringe, and I try to avoid it, but in my opinion this book is worth becoming an exception, and I wholeheartedly thank you for recommending it. Congratulations on BOTD!

This seems like a wonderfully written book. I like that the book has great character development and that each character has a role to play in the overall plot. The author seems to have done a great job of immersing readers into the story by providing detailed and vivid descriptions.

I really like this book because it tells the story of a girl who lost her beloved mother due to a curse that lasted for 300 years. She lives independently, fighting and defending herself from all the evil that befell her and also when facing people who betrayed her secretly. This book is very interesting because it tells us about how to live independently without guidance and the courage to face various obstacles and challenges. A girl named Maddie is so determined to remove the curse that has haunted the palace residence for 300 years. She is willing to do anything for the freedom and harmony of her palace and country.

An interesting story featuring Voodoo, ghosts and human sufferings can be found in the book "The Satin Moth" by Jennie Dodd. The story follows Maddie, who lives a sheltered life with her overly protective father and her aunt.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

Jennie Dodd’s writing is amazing! I loved how vivid the settings were, from the African village to the castle. The characters felt so real, and I’m eager to find out if Maddie was successful in ending the curse.

An enjoyable review.Thank you.Author Jennie Dott has wrote a very interesting story about the Montague family.Characters are well introduced and their roles well articulated.I love the consistency of Maddie and Lowan in wanting to unveil the reason behind a three hundred year old curse and figure out on how to finish it so as to save their family. The slave trade and human suffering teaches lessons on what is going on in the world and learn to avoid such vices.Congratulations on being the BOTD.

The fact that the lord of the castle and his brother refuse to remarry after losing their wives makes me believe they are well aware of the curse that was placed on the family centuries ago. But I guess I will have to read the book to verify that. Well done on the review.

At first glance, the cover had me thinking this was a book about butterflies and their biology, but the review completely changed my expectations. It sounds like a gripping story with tense moments making it a captivating read.

"The Satin Moth" by Jennie Dodd is a historical story based on the slave trade that occurred in the 17th and 18th centuries and how this affected a family whose wealth was built on the slave trade. The beginning of the book is focused on Robert Montague, the current day 10th Lord of Eastlyn, and his family as they continue to be affected by the voodoo hex that was placed on his family centuries ago. The second part of story takes place in the past when George Montague, the 1st Lord of Eastlyn, a cruel slave trader, who profited from the inhumane and heinous treatment of African natives that were imprisoned as slaves and taken to the new world. The third part was devoted to the curse that had been placed on the Montague family 300 years ago. The cousins were all motherless because of the curse and Maddie’s father and her uncles refused to marry again because they did not want the wives to die an early death. The sample was excellent with detail on each of the characters but it did not reveal the nature of the curse. Will Maddie be successful in ending the curse? I am adding this book to my to-read shelf since I want to learn the outcome of the story and the significance of the Satin Moth that one of the cousins had caught, killed and mounted it in a display case.

I would love to read this book to see how Maddie goes about breaking the curse that's been in their family for 300 years. The African setting, voodoo, and the mention of ghosts also sound intriguing. Thanks for the review!

All though I am not a big fan of supernatural stuff does not believe in curses but by reading the above review I am quite trilled to read the entire book and discover the challenges a teenager faces in discovering what happened to all the women’s that died due to curse and how she can end this suffering which has been going in the family for three centuries.
