I think that her reaction is proper and human. It is okay to feel sad when your parents divorce

In the midst of a troubled relationship, a child's natural response is to feel perplexed, doubtful, and self-critical, often mistakenly believing they are the cause of the problems and shouldering the blame.

Honestly, with the way her parents handled the divorce and told their children, I'm surprised Lea didn't act out more. Her parents were apathetic about the whole thing, which I can understand if they were that miserable but explaining such a sudden change to both your small children, should have been handled with more care. Lea's reaction and cutting off her hair was justified, like I said she's a child and this was her best way to process her emotions at the time.

I understood her reaction, and I think it was pretty normal for someone who is still on a self-discovery journey. Being flooded with emotions of fear and the unknown at the same time, I think her reaction was very normal and expected.

I felt sorry for Lea. Every time she felt herself reacting to the situation, she pushed those feelings down by reasoning out how she thought the adults in her life would want her to behave instead of showing her true feelings. She really was left on her own.
