The Silver Horn Echoes: A Song of Roland is a action driven historical novel. Set in Medieval Europe and following Roland a young nobleman. His father's ghost encourages him to be the champion of King Charles. This book will be great for history lovers. Receiving 3 stars for lack of character depth seems to be only flaw. Great detailed review and BOTD.

The book sounds interesting and fast-paced providing vivid descriptions of various places and introducing the reader to a lot of people in the book. But the book is characterized as a war story with the depiction of many battles which are not my cup of tea. Still I'm sure the book will find its reader. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Set in Charlemagne's Europe, "The Silver Horn Echoes" is a compelling adaptation of the poem "The Song of Roland." It's a story of devotion, conflict, and fame, filled with realistic combat, political treachery, and a spectral father encouraging his son to succeed.

The fact that the book teaches that even villains could have reasons that others could understand is really amazing. It reminds of the saying that every man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. It would be good to read this book and see how Roland helped the royal family and the kingdom.

I really appreciated this review. It's very thorough without giving anything away. The Song of Roland is an ancient song/poem that many of us with a degree or an interest in English literature find familiar. One problem I had is that the reviewer said there were historical inaccuracies. This novel is historical fiction, so unless they were talking about anachronisms, there cannot be any inaccuracies. I do appreciate how the authors didn't spend enough time with the characters' thoughts and emotions, which left the reviewer feeling they were without depth. I find that with many militaristic novels, authors want to revel in the action and forget that readers need to feel a connection to characters to care whether they live or die.

A story set in the medieval times certainly sounds intriguing. I like historical fictions because they often give an alternative picture of real historical events. I find that refreshing. The plot sounds interesting with conspiracy and action. Thanks for the free copy.

Sometimes stories that are time pieces make me feel like I need to have a full grasp of the history prior to comfortably enjoying a novel, and your review made me reconsider that here. I liked that you note that this book clearly explains context and setting. I like that this book sounds like it would be very visually exciting if it were turned into something like a tv show or movie later on! Strong visual descriptions in novels are always delightful.

Although this book "The Silver Horn Echoes: A Song of Roland" by Michael Eging and Steve Arnold is not my cup of tea. I like its plot and I think it is worth the read. Congratulations on the book of the day.

Thank you for your review. I read the sample. Roland is the son of the deceased William and now the stepson of a man who hates him. His father, as a ghost in day and night, urges him to protect the kingdom. Can Roland step up?

The Silver Horn Echoes: A Song of Roland, is a book book that makes me realize that life is about choices and these choices might affect your relationships, be it with family, the community or yourself. You still have to make those choices. Roland has to stand with King Charles as instructed by his father William because there are enemies that must be conquered and he has to fight his family as well because they are also a threat to the throne. Choices are to be made here and carefully so.

This book is based on things that happened in the 11th century making it a bit hard to grasp and relate to, but it is an amazing book especially to those who love History. I would recommend everyone who loves traveling to read it because they might find their next destination.
