I would have to be influenced by their online platform or other's suggestions.

The cookbook would have to be free. Secondly, it would have to have reviews. I want to know what I am getting into before I make it.

I have some books, some magazine clippings, and online recipes. I would pick up a book if I felt I would try at least half of the recipes on it.

Definitely having a plethora of recipes that are easy and practical to make any time (otherwise what's the point of a cookbook if you open it once every couple of months)

It wouldn’t take a lot lol, because I’d rather cook from a book than getting online recipes, but not being too tired to cook is a whole other issue.

Yummy pictures and reasonable ingredient lists.

I would pick up a cookbook if I am looking for a recipe that I cannot find anywhere else. I would be interested if it contains lots of recipes which are from different cultures. Of course, having many colurful pictures and is easy to read and understand are important features as well.

I actually prefer a paper cookbook! I can’t stand all the extra text and ads on the online recipes. I check out cookbooks at my local library and make photocopies of recipes I want to try so I can reference them without having to be glued to my phone.

What would make me pick up a cookbook is if I want to cook a meal that is not my cultural dish. I would like to know how to prepare it so I don't make a mess out of it.
