Please use this forum to discuss historical fiction books. Common definitions define historical fiction as novels written at least 25-50 years after the book's setting.
"The Sisterhood" by Maisie Moon is a historical fiction that includes four short stories that follow four amazing women known as the daughters of Eve. The first story is set in 1307 where Sidone Dupont must work to stop the satanic sacrifice of a woman named Sara. The second story is set in the 16th-century France. Angelique escaped her abusive husband and awakened her daughters of Eve powers so she can save her daughter from demonic possession. The third story sees Gertrude O’Brien inherit a chest containing powerful artifacts. The fourth story is set in the middle of WWII where Siobhan, Nancy Flanagan’s mother, confronts an Irish traitor and rescues a downed British pilot. Each of these women demonstrated remarkable courage and each story was very unique and showed the women’s devotion to their faith and their gift of light. The sisterhood that may have begun as early as the time of Adam and Eve is kept a secret but are well known by the Knights Templar. These extremely brave men were devoted to the defense of the Catholic faith and each member took a vow of Chastity so they never married. Sadly, European royalty was very jealous of the money the Knights Templar had accumulated over hundreds of years and started arresting members of the Knights Templar in several countries, convicted them based on false testimony and then put them to death. Prophecy states that at the Summer Solstice the greatest powers in the history of the sisterhood will pass down to the next daughter of Eve. The new daughter of Eve is educated on her purpose by the previous daughter of Eve and the ancestral light energy is full of love and passion and the understanding that the light will aways beat the dark. This book is the prequel to the Nancy Flanagan Chronicles that includes a three-book supernatural trilogy titled Guilt, Legacy and Destiny. I found the sample to be fascinating and I look forward to the Nancy Flanagan Chronicle trilogy. The sample was short, but set the tone for an amazing historical fictional story. I totally agree with the 5 out of 5-star rating.
"The Sisterhood" was a captivating book that demonstrated strengths of different characters in time and showed how these women who have been silenced and underestimated throughout history, were resilient and strong having faith in what they are. I read the book from somewhere else so I would rate it 3 out of 4 stars. It's an admirable way of representing such topic while setting it in a historical and magical atmosphere.
This book shows thatbboth in real life and in fiction many women have passed on their strength wisdomand ability to protect others from generation to generation sometimes in secret, without anyone noticing .As if each one leaves a spark for the next.
